The other problem with more TV channels is that they're all full of repeats and crap, and they don't really offer more viewing choice.
Yeh, U etc just do old stuff but there used to be a few things worth watching, rarely find anything now. Still, sticks are useful if you missed something recent and have an old TV that doesn't work with iPlayer, my5 etc catchups.

Another day done, and it's the weekend!

By virtue of skipping a couple of meetings that weren't particularly important (or not in my opinion, at least), I got my prototype thing working

Only just remembered to submit my timesheet!

I've been considering whether I need to do any shopping. I think I can probably get away without it this week

        Tea: sausages, chips and beans

More Bin Laden stuff on Netflix to go with this; they've finally discovered the house in Abbottabad so I expect the rest of this final episode will be explosive

After finishing the Bin Laden thing, I continued with Netflix's chosen theme of peaceful coexistence by watching A House of Dynamite (2025). I've seen assertions that this is adapted from the book Nuclear War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobsen, which I read a while ago, but while it certainly seems to draw on it, I don't think it's officially an adaptation as such. Anyway, it's pissed off that moron in the White House and his cronies, who insist that the USA's missile defence system is 100% reliable. The film says 61%, but I believe the official figure from testing is 55%. Maybe his chum in North Korea will give them an opportunity of finding out which is the correct number? Anyway, I reckon it's a very good film in terms of entertainment; I've seen some people on Bluesky arguing that it's "unrealistic" and "inaccurate" and "things don't work that way", in response to whom I can only repeat the mantra "it's a story, not a documentary"

            Goodnight all

                Morning all (properly this time)

                TFIF, etc.
Very windy overnight and quite overcast this morning, but also warm at 14C.

                      Morning denizens

It's a grey day today, and there was some rain overnight so it feels a bit damp too. More rain is due this afternoon, and it's also a bit breezy so the current 14°C "feels like" 8° and is already close to the expected high of 15°. The barometers are down again at 988/995mB

Busy morning so far, as I just prepared a beef & Guinness casserole (or stew) and chucked it in the slow cooker to cook slowly

I'm not sure I need to go shopping. Really, the only difficulty arising from not going will be finding things to have for lunch over the course of the next week. But I daresay it won't really be a problem, and it seems a bit extreme to drive even to nearby Not as Big Sainsbury's just for the sake of a Pukka steak slice and a few baps
