For lunch, I have continued my exploration of the world of Sainsbury's puff pastry slices by trying the chicken & bacon one. Nice enough

A bird appears to have fallen down the chimney but the fireplace is blocked up. I can't rescue it without permission from my landlady as the way it's boarded up will result in damage and I don't have the right materials or paint to fix it without her noticing.

After much investigation about what do to with a trapped bird (apparently it's fine to dispose in household waste) and whether it's ok for me to remove the plasterboard, etc, I finally removed said plasterboard today. I was dismayed to discover the bird to be a magpie.

Prior to bird removal and disposal, I stripped the bed and left it to air. The duvet cover had started to fall apart so that was used to catch the dust from the filler surrounding the plasterboard and to wrap up the deceased on removal from the fireplace. A new duvet set was ordered in the week, to maintain two sets in rotation, and will be laundered before use.

After putting the under sheet and pillow cases out in the garden to dry in the sunshine, I headed over to the storage unit. There I retrieved the drill, a box of useful bits and some parts for the BBQ.

Apparently I was 'glowing' on my return home.

Now having a beer that has been chilling in the fridge for just such a day.

I wasn't sure what to get for tea tonight, but then I remembered I had a Nando's Reward that expired soon and when I checked, I discovered it was tomorrow! It entitled me to half a chicken for nowt, so tea has been that with chips

Lots of wildlife stuff today as usual, including the end of the latest series of Monkey Life. It isn't on next week, so no idea when it'll be back, though I daresay they'll start again at the beginning soon

And this evening I finished Eagle Days

My temperature has come down to normal during the course of the day, but my throat is still a bit sore

And it seems to have got quite windy out again

Among yesterday’s accomplishments were a beverage holder to go on the arm of one of the benches in the garden, made from offcuts of wood. I was then informed that a hedgehog feeding station needed to be made (about 45x30cm enclosure with a baffle inside it to prevent cats getting in), which was duly completed using offcuts and a bit of pond liner stretched over MDF for the roof.
Packed up most of my old camera gear, ready to go to MPB.
It was a busy day.
Today will be gardening, watching some stuff I’m selling on eBay, and putting some other stuff on there.

Meanwhile on the 21st of January 2020 it was cold, LM took a less than optimal route via T4, NF found it frosty, as did WTFH and BR14, I watched the commentary on "Back to the Future" due to the inevitable 5 a.m. waking, whereas NF was reading more Nevil Shute: "Pastoral", and was as well.

Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: "Do Re Mi" by Hawkwind. By deft use of the various dsp processing on the cd player & the Aiwa thing it returns an acceptable sound. Probably because it's a bit "muddy" to start with.

Indeed some of the later stuff on that cd is too bright.

I may have to create some proper Baxendale tone controls. .

Shirts & other stuff needing the iRon received its attentions.

Fecking showers of rain have led to the TD being employed on the towels and the smalls.

Really irritated now.

Inneresting: the hiroshima bomb used 64 kg of U235: yield 15kt, the Mk18 bomb used 60kg of U235: yield 500kt. What a difference 10 years experience makes (gun versus implosion). .

Minor potching on the tooltray for the toolbox in the garage. Followed by some rough gardening in dead heading the roses & weeding the cleavers. I hate cleavers.

Yesterday the bed was made well ahead of bed time, for a change.

Off to see Mum today.

On my return HWMBO and I will watch the last two episodes of Dr Who. Sad to find out that Ncuti Gatwa is moving on. The readers of the Torygraph were not happy at his replacement, or anything Dr Who related, it would seem. Just don't watch it you miserable sods.
