      Morning.

      Friday apparently.

      Damply dry.

      Grey.

      Misty.

      Sunless.

Chilly in here at 17.7 deg, 19 in the kitchen, 16.5 in the leanto.

1013 mBar, 29.914 in Hg, 759.8 Torr, 14.69 psi, (down from 1014 last night), 71% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 20th of January 2020 LM had a tickly cough, it was cold, BR14 popped in, eek had problems with the documentation not corresponding with the actuality, NF recalled the time in 1997 when the only documentation on Javascript for IE3 on the MS site was a single page written in French about VBscript (whatever that is), whereas WTFH was listening to the guinea fowl fussing away out in the garden.

Well managed to stay asleep until 04:00 this morning and it did not return despite finishing one book & a novella. Ho fecking hum.

Dozed for a while in the chair.

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 82%.

Walk (abbreviated) walked in the grey gloom: actually in cloud towards the top which accounts for the abbreviation.

      Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: some thing on R4 about insects.

More potching in the garage with the toolbox: this time it was refixing the supports for the sliding tool carrier thingie. Managed to hit my finger with a hammer: something Strangelove pater was amazingly good at, nice to know I'm following in his footsteps.

      Tea: soup. Nice enough.

      Entertainment: PM.

      NCIS S21 E3, E4, bit of E5.

PBS: Dad's secret war: France 1944. Kid opens a tin box. Finds a .45 ACP & 4 magazines, 4 or 5 identity docs Etc. Dad was in SOE. And was one of the first to see Oradore-Sur-Glane after the massacre.

Repair Shoppe. Book radio: I think it's the one from the Channel Islands in WWII. Nope. From the Netherlands.

I wonder how much sleep I'll get tonight. .

        Morning all
A few heavy clouds on the horizon earlier, but these stayed well away. Sunny and nowhere near as muggy as yesterday.

        TFIF, etc.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

          Morning denizens

Cloudy out, but in a way that suggests the likelihood of sunny spells later. The weather app says otherwise, though. Another mild, even warm, day: it's 17°C already, and reaching 20° later. Still a bit breezy though, so it "feels like" 13°. The barometers are up a little at 1005/1013mB

The lurgy has now become an extremely sore throat, with a bit of a bunged-up nose to go with it. I don't feel that bad in myself though, or at least not yet, and I slept pretty well. Covid test is negative, though I note it had an expiry date some time in 2022

Big Sainsbury's has been gone to!

Probably not so often in future, though. One reason I go all the way there is to get the in-store bakery 800g wholemeal and white sandwich loaves, sliced, as I freeze them and use them as needed. But they've stopped making them! Like Not-as-Big they had naught but 400g loaves, and none of the bog-standard ones, only "farmhouse" (they sprinkled some flour on top, which is also an uneven shape that's inconvenient in the sandwich toaster) and the like

I got a 400g farmhouse wholemeal to tide me over, and asked the lady who sliced it for me in case it was a temporary aberration, but she confirmed that "they" have stopped making them

So my purchases today included bags of white and wholemeal bread flour and some sachets of yeast, and this afternoon I will be ordering a breadmaking machine. I've been thinking of getting one for years anyway

And as for Big Sainsburys, there's now even less reason to go all the way there. There's Viz every five weeks, and wider ranges of some stuff like beer and cookware; but on weeks when I don't need that much but do need some stuff, the lack of an opportunity to stock up on bread means I'm much more likely to go to the Not-as-Big one instead

Oh, and at the back of the store, I realised I'd forgotten to check my personal Nectar prices for this week, so tried to use the store wi-fi (provided by O2) as I didn't have a signal back there. They've changed the login flow, and now send you a code via SMS which you need to enter. But the only reason I was trying to use it was because I didn't have a signal, so I couldn't receive the SMS…

Down on the lawn, the blackbird family have been popping out of the hedge regularly for blackbird school

And there's a juvenile squirrel out there too, also learning the ropes! It's staying close to the hedge at the moment, but I daresay it'll venture further afield once it's got the hang of things and seen the others doing so
