Max has just farted he's on the sofa at the far side of my office. I'm on a conference call and trying not to retch or cry.

The call is about the same topic that I have spent maybe 12 hours on calls this week and last. I've done the work I need to do, the others are arguing about their bits and what excuses they have for not doing them. Most of their "questions" are recorded in a spreadsheet, and each call they create a new column. They hide the previous day's column and type in new text. the rows are aligned with another spreadsheet. Each day the new text ends up almost identical to the previous day, because they have done nothing.
8 people on today's call (down from 15). So far my contribution has been: Yes I've done what I've been asked to do. No, I cannot design the technicalities of your system for you. Yes, I can guide you on how the business and other systems, if you want to listen.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

      Morning all

Cloudy. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 21 expected. There is a chance of some rain showers throughout the day. Barometer steady at 1028 mBar.

      Sunrise 08:09; Sunset 18:27

The rest of the week is set to be cloudy and potentially damp so those swimming costumes were a good investment

Not sure what we're going to do today. It's just nice relaxing tbh.

Shopping has been done at Not As Big Sainsbury's. As predicted, I didn't need very much of such things as they had, so there was a bit of a focus on stuff that's handy to have reserves of. I helped an elderly partially-sighted lady who was looking for skin-on chicken thighs while I was after the same thing, and my reward for this virtuous act was that the pack underneath the one I'd handed to her had a use-by date that was several days later than hers

The car didn't start first time outbound, but I heard the solenoid pop on the starter motor, so I think that was just due to it having been sitting outside in a week's worth of variable and not particularly nice weather. It fired up on the second go, and first time for the return journey

Now I need to think about lunch. N-A-B-S doesn't have a lukewarm food counter so there's no easy option

We decided to book an island tour and, in order to get a hefty discount, agreed to attend a timeshare sales pitch. The offer wasn't bad but it's not one we're going to take up.

We're now recovering with a G&T in the hotel bar before we take a walk into town to spend a discount voucher in Blandy's wine shop.

Walked round to the chemist's to get the monthly prescription. They actually had it ready, which was quite impressive given that they'd apparently failed to order it this month so I had to do it myself

Coming back, I decided to walk along the shopping road to the junction with our road by the park, rather than back the way I'd come through terraced streets. The distance is the same, but I thought it would make a change. This meant I encountered in rapid succession the delicious aromas coming from the tapas bar, the Indian restaurant, and the Korean takeaway, so I'll do that again

The new blinds for the balcony door and the small side window in the living room arrived unexpectedly this morning. No email from Dunelm to say they were coming, no "We've got a parcel for you" text from DHL. But they're here, so I suppose I'll have to get my act together and install them over the weekend

And this morning, I found time to strip the bed and leave it to air, so I'd better make that soon to avoid an unpleasant surprise tonight

Tea has been oniony chicken casserole with chips and peas

This was accompanied by an episode of the motorway-averse cops thing

And the bed has been remade, so disaster has been averted!
