      Morning denizens

Grey day, even a little misty as one looks into the distance. No rain or other precipitation, so there's that. Not very warm at 2°C with an expected high of 3°, though not for long. The barometers are down a bit at 1018/1026mB

        Morning Afternoon.

        Saturday.

        Dry.

        Grey.

        Sunless.

Chilly in here at 11 deg, 11.5 deg in the kitchen. 10 deg in the leanto, 7.6 deg in the saltinghouse.

1025 mBar, 30.268 in Hg, 768.8 Torr, 14.866 psi, (down from 1029 last night), 57% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 21st of December 2019 TheRealNF was up & about & posting at 12:57 despite only going to bed at 06:00, whereas I was rained on during the trip down to the library, BR14 was dismantling & cleaning the vac in a search for brownie points, whereas LM was off out shopping with HWMBO after a nice date night.

Shopping trip to Aldi & Tesco done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Walk (slightly abbreviated) walked in the grey gloom.

        Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: Freecell score: 60%, running average: 81%.

Last 15 minutes of "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid (1969)" with that Paul Newman chap and that other blonde guy.

Tea: Brains faggots with peas & such. Nice enough.

Entertainment: PM. Political Thinking <click> The Shipping Forecast.

Purely by chance: "Comfortably Numb" live at Pompeii followed by the "DSOTM" documentary with Rog carefully muted everytime he opens his fecking mouth. Ditto the thing about "WYWH" which has even more of him, made up for by the presence of Veneta Fields, who always makes me laugh with her comments about the ooos.

        Other other book. Other book.

One load of washing done and dry.
Smallest eating apple tree has had its whips removed and a bit of a trim, it’s looking better. Second eater is about half done, but the ladder was sinking into the ground a bit much, then I switched to having boards under it. As a reward to myself for doing the small stuff, I got a chainsaw out for the big bramley tree. Only used it at the top of the long ladder to remove a couple of branches that were getting a bit close to the power lines.
As is only appropriate with working on apple trees, I’m rewarding myself with some of my cider.

Tea was brought unto me from the south Indian restaurant along the main road, past the park. Very nice; their Chicken 65 starter in particular is absolutely delicious

There's been the usual batch of Monkey Life followed by various other wildlife things on the telly today, but by the time the food arrived they were on to the shark thing again. I've seen that at least twice before so to accompany my fine dining, I watched the first episode of The Secret Lives of Animals on Apple TV, made for them by the BBC Natural History Unit. It tends to anthropomorphise a lot, and nothing dies or gets killed so maybe it's aimed at a younger audience. Still good stuff though, and it looks amazing in 4K

I finished reading Apollo 13. The closing chapter has a detailed explanation of how the dodgy oxygen tank came to be dodgy, going into more detail than other things I've read, so that was good. And before that, there were one or two bits towards the end of the journey that the film leaves out. It's a good book

Time for bed now, so I'm well rested for the morning session of Monkey Life

              Goodnight all

Scattered clouds, dry. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 23 expected. Rain forecast. Barometer down to 1019 mBar.

It turned out to be a lovely day yesterday. It was a bit chilly up Pico de Arieiro but at 1800+ m above sea level, that's to be expected. Hopefully today goes the same way once we get over the other side of the mountain again. We're up early again for a trip to a Sunday market.

Today is our last day here. Back home tomorrow.

Overcast and damp out, which is a bit annoying as the forecast said we might even get a bit of sun today.

Rather gloomy grey morning out, and with a damp feel to it, though this seems to come from a heavy dew overnight rather than rain. It's 1°C but feels like -2°, getting up to a mere 3° later, while the barometers are up to 1008/1017mB
