Lunch from the cob shop over the way. It's still for sale. Soft drinks fridge is empty, only a couple of Marathons and such left in the chocolate cabinet on the counter, and four or five bags of crisps left on the shelf. Judging by the way it's running down, I suspect this may be my last cob from there

The bad weather seems to be concentrating its efforts on the south-east and London, leaving the rest of the country unaffected.
Expect the Mail tomorrow to talk of "Britain battered by storms" on the grounds that what they can see out of their office window constitutes the entirety of the kingdom
