Early lunch here as well, as we have a team retro at 1pm: bacon butties

I did ask about the retro at this morning's standup in the hope they'd decide there was no need now there's hardly any of us left and cancel it, but no such luck

I decided that as the problem with the freezer I had at the old place (which struggles to get below -9°C in this weather) might be the door seal, I should try to do something about it. After much Googling, it became clear that although it's branded John Lewis, the manufacturer is Electrolux and they have a wide range of spare parts for that specific model on their site, including a replacement seal! So I've ordered one, as it's just a case of pulling the old one out of the groove it slots into and fitting the new one. If that doesn't fix it, then at least I'll know it's something else that's wrong with it

The clouds parted and it was a lovely sunny afternoon. They've returned a bit now.

The food waste bins on my street weren't collected so a missed collection report has been lodged.

We also had a sunny period that's starting to cloud over now

My previously reported issue with the Channel 4 website has been resolved. I turned off uBlock Origin and was able to log in before turning it back on again and proceeding to watch all new 24 Hours in A&E.

              Morning.

              Wednesday.

              Damp.

              Grey.

              Sunless.

              Dreary.

Cool at 20.6 deg in here, 21.5 in the kitchen, 19.5 in the leanto.

1006 mBar, 29.71 in Hg, 754.56 Torr, 14.59 psi, (unchanged), 70% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 26th of January 2020 there was a strange glow in the sky spotted by NF, however his beef casserole had turned out well, WTFH was still wondering about a birthday (significant) present, and the Oak Island nutjobs had found, you guessed it, more wood, and in their usual fashion were digging up something they'd put down a couple of months earlier so they could dig something else up.

Freecell score in the ongoing ennui of life, the universe & everything: 90%, running average: 82%.

              Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: the film thing on R4: "I love you" and "Ghosts". Monday's ep opened a wormhole into "The Wild Bunch" that kept me amused for ages.

The afternoon potch is imminent. Chopping up sheets of galv to repair the 2nd toolbox.

The first toolbox isn't full of tools, other than a brakepipe flare tool, but, rather, it's full of plastic and metal boxes that I thought might come in handy, and have resided in the garage ever since I brought them home.

The 2nd toolbox has been "repaired" in the same way as the first, with internal right angle lengths so the boards don't fall apart when the ancient glue & nails pass their time to failure.

All that remains now is to decide WTF I put in it.

I was going to bolt the Lidl(tm) drill press for the electric drill to the big bench, but using it on the Maplin workmate thing seems satisfactory.

Mediocre cup of coffee duly consumed, so back down to the garage I go.

'Tis a trifle warm in there today now the sun's decided to shine a bit.

The newly installed lights seem quite satisfactory from a "oh, I can see" point of view.

The eyes, on the other hand, seem to need a wide variety of different dioptre ready readers these days.

And the LED lantern thing came in handy when I needed to see the slots in the woodscrews.

              First tiny toad observed.

Tea: chilli con carne with rice etc. Nice enough.

              Entertainment: PM. <click>

The Good Professor War Walking on the Boyne.

The thing about Wonderland on Sky Arts. (3rd of 4).

                Morning denizens

Quite a few big clouds about but also quite a few big gaps, so it looks like it'll be sunny spells today, until the situation resolves one way or the other. The high wind of the past few days has died down. It'll be warm too: already 18°C with 24° expected; the barometers are back up a little at 999/1007mB

Off to the dentist this morning for the checkup that should have happened last Friday

                  Morning all
Overcast and humid out during the walk, but the sky is brightening.

2 old iPhones and a couple of 2GB laptop memory cards have gone on t'bay, as they were in the pile of "why am I keeping this?". My wife's argument is "but what if your current one breaks or gets stolen?", to which my comment is that she asks me when am I replacing my current one. The answer is when it breaks or gets stolen, or when I get an itch to buy a new one. The current one is 4 years old and still working fine, and the only reason I'd have to change sooner rather than later is that it is now the only device that is not USB-C. All the other phones/tablets/etc use the same connector, so when this one gets changed, it means only one type of cable for everything.

Sunny with lumps of fluff. Currently 22 degrees ('feels like' 25) with a high of 27 expected. Barometer still at 1012 mBar.

As I need to create a presentation for a meeting tomorrow, I have spent the past half hour or so cleaning the shower. It's annoying in that it has a fixed 'rainfall' style head and so rinsing off the cleaning products has to be done with a cloth and chucking a bucket of water about. Far less efficient.

Trying to decide if I'm hungry or just bored.
