    Morning denizens

Grey day, but mild enough at 11°C with an expected high of 16°, though it's a touch breezy so supposedly "feels like" 9° at the moment. The barometers remain essentially steady, being changed only in the decimal places such that rounding has them one down at 1011/1019mB

          Afternoon all

Cloudy but bright and dry. Currently 17 degrees and that's the high for the day. As ever the chance of a shower remains. Barometer down a bit to 1022 mBar.

          Sunrise 05:43; Sunset 20:17 BST

HWMBO returned yesterday and made me a lovely dinner that I didn't eat very much of. This cold has very much made me lose my appetite. Not feeling very well today and have been resting up, reading Private Eye.

For tea tonight, I bestowed my remote custom on the south Indian place past the park. Very nice, as usual

And an Amazon delivery turned up at exactly the same time, killing two birds with one stone

HWMBO cooked some sea bass that he bought this morning from the farmers' market. Served with rice and a variation on the la Veracruzana sauce featured recently in the Waitrose Weekend newspaper.

Today featured the usual Monkey Life and others, including baboons and vervet monkeys later in the day

And this evening, more of Story of a Murder. Doctor Crippen's wife has supposedly left in haste for America then died, and he's shacked up with his secretary! But he's made one fatal error: he's got on the wrong side of the Music Hall Ladies' Guild, of which his wife was treasurer, and they're becoming increasingly suspicious. Everybody knows you'd have to be crazy to go up against a group of women who play the Glasgow Empire on a Saturday night for a living

Only one more day of holiday left, but I'm feeling much better for the break. With luck, they'll have made progress on the idea of moving me to another project while I've been away

                  Goodnight all

                    Morning.

                    Sunday apparently.

Another inneresting night's sleep: woke at 02:30 drenched in sweat, had to change my t shirt for a dry one. Bedding now in the WM.

                    Dry.

                    Vaguely sunny.

Chilly in here at 16.8 deg, 16.5 in the kitchen, 15 in the leanto, 14 in the saltinghouse.

1021 mBar, 30.15 in Hg, 765.8 Torr, 14.8 psi, (up from 1019.5 last night), 63% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 12th of January 2020 Scruff encountered Oak Island & the nutjobbery, who, at that time, were busy sticking cans down & building a coffer dam in Smith's Cove, though they hadn't found FDR's dap yet, LM had installed the new tv pc and the sound bar was proving problematic by turing itself off after 20 minutes of no audio, while xogg had missed some prog or other for similar reasons, whereas I mentioned "Hawk amongst the sparrows" being a time travel tome involving an A12 and the Red Barron.

Fuel? WTF? Where could he land it in the first place? Don't make I larf.

Ah, it was VTOL as well. .

                    Who'd have thunk? .

Bedding wash on. Got to get that sweat out. Beginning to think that RFK Jr may have a point. .

                    Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: looking for flat flannelette sheets. I do miss Shaws the Drapers, though their on line Amazon shop is still there, zombielike, like.

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 82%.

                    Bed remade.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the unbearable heat of the afternoon. Nearly had to take my jacket off. Just as well I left a layer off.

Now sitting down for a cup of coffee (not Blend 37).

Washing in off the line & airing upstairs: t shirt duly iRoned.

Her next door was getting the washing in/putting more out: difficult to tell: duly pretended not to notice she was there. .

Tea: beans on toast plus a couple of boiled eggs. Nice enough.

Entertainment: The End of the Universe thing with Robin Ince. Doomed etc.

                    Book.

Bit of STOS S3 E23 "All our yesterdays": the one where Spock gets a girlfriend 5000 years ago.

"The private life of Sherlock Holmes (1970)" with Robert Stephens and Colin Blakely, with Christopher Lee thrown in for good measure. Chopped to pieces by the studio. The Russian ballet bit appears totally irrelevant. Not exactly gripping by any means.
