Just back from Karaoke. Managed to dodge the potholes in the dark this time.

I have caught up on 24 Hours in A&E.

That's all my medical programmes caught up on.

Forgot to sign out of TPD again! Must have been tired, again

Anyway, last night I just read more of Trainspotting

This morning, it's very windy out, and a grey day to boot. Mild enough though: 7°C now, 12° later. The barometer is steady at 984/992mB

Just got to get through today and tomorrow, and it's holiday time!

          Morning.

          Wednesday.

Last night I dreamed of Manderley that fecking spider, had to get up & look around the house at 04:00 to check for it. Sleep thereafter was problematic, but more of the last of my Inspector Colbeck books was read.

          Wet.

          Grey.

          Sunless.

Chilly in here at 15.2 deg, 13 deg in the kitchen 12 in the leanto.

995.5 mBar, 29.397 in Hg, 746.686 Torr, 14.438 psi, (up from 989 last night), 59% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 9th of January 2020 we cleared up the fact that I took a pair of secateurs with me on my walks rather than a machete or a rifle (though this last would have dealt with half a dozen tree rats that day), WTFH was awaiting delivery of a chicken house (hopefully not one designed by my Esteemed Customers), whilst LM wondered about transferring iPlayer downloads from her old tv computer to her new tv computer, though BR14 was unable to help therewith.

Today we start a spider hunt Spring Cleaning..

4 bookcases moved, vacced behind, dusted, polished, put back, books put back. One more to go.

          Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: 5 minutes of Y&Y which was quite enough.

TWATO if I can bear it. Then it's back to Spring Cleaning: ever so much fun.

Just rescued a woodlouse who seemed intent on dying in here along with so many of its friends. Out it went. It's damp out there & dry in here, not ideal for a woodlouse.

The remaining bookcase moved, cleaned behind, then a cabinet thing which holds up some of the hifi got itself moved & polished, allowing access to the shelves containing the Technics SL110 and the Garrard 301 turntables (plus another el cheapo I was given by someone years ago & have never plugged in). The Yamaha CT7000 and a Powertran Linsleyhood 75W amp both removed, polished & cleaned a bit, with the shelves they sit on also washed & dried. More stuff moved about and put back including the Shaun the Sheep collection. .

Tea: chicken in white sauce with rice n peas. Nice enough.

Entertainment: PM waffling on about stuff.

          Hannah Fry on Rollercoasters.

Maigret. Murder in the vegetable garden. (1999).

          Maigret (1963).

Caught the spider: it now resides outside.

            Morning all

Sunny with lumps of fluff scurrying past. Currently 10 degrees ('feels like' 7) with a high of 15 expected. Barometer up to 1001 mBar.

            Sunrise 06:03; Sunset 20:00 BST

Having to monitor CourtServe today to see what time a friend's ex is going to appear at Thames Magistrates Court tomorrow. The exact time won't come up; I just need to know if it's the morning or afternoon session. I said I'd go along to observe his sentencing for the 8 years of abuse she suffered (but he's only been charged with 3 weeks of abusive and threatening behaviour because the CPS don't take such things seriously enough).

Lunch: Heinz tomato soup and white toast

It's turned Simpsonesque out, but it's still very windy

                Afternoon all
We had rain overnight. Proper, garden watering rain.

In other news, last year we put up a bird box with a camera in it. About a month ago a pair of Great Tits started to build a nest in it. For the last few evenings one of them has been sleeping in it overnight. This morning when she flew out, there was an egg.

Group walk this morning, just 1 other bloke as usual. My new loony lady wants another meet. Neighbour next door in hospital with an injury yet again, 3rd time in last few years. Booze and fags do not make for great health.

Another day done, and only one more to go!

Today, they started talking about what I'll move on to next, as this project hasn't got much longer to run. It appears there's something the SoS has deemed urgent, and they want to move a chap who's got the requisite skills from another team and drop me in to replace him. Depending on the SoS's definition of "urgent", this could mean I get moved quite soon!

This evening, I need to get my two old and fairly large armchairs downstairs, as the council's Bulky Waste Collection Service is coming for them and the redundant washing machine from the old place tomorrow, and they claim to arrive any time from 7am onwards so all three items have to be outside by then. I don't want to have to wrestle the chairs out to the lift that early, so I'll take them down tonight and leave them outside my storeroom, which currently contains the washing machine. Then I can get up early tomorrow and move everything outside in time, though they'll probably then end up sitting out there until half four or something. But there's a paved area outside the room of storerooms where they can sit and not get in anybody's way while being easily accessible to the Bulky Waste Brigade, and there's no rain forecast

As the armchairs have been stacked on top of one another in the far corner of the study since I moved here and other stuff from the parental home has also accumulated in there, I've had to move a few things around. But I've managed to get one of them out to the hall without too much effort, and the other will come the same way once the first has been taken out. So I'll leave all the shifting downstairs for a bit later.
