Speaking of Colditz reminded me of The Gingham Glider. . A.K.A. "The Colditz Cock" apparently.

      Morning.

Wednesday apparently, after the evening's extended viewing.

      Dry.

      Grey.

      Blue sky in parts.

Chilly in here at 11.2 deg, 8.5 deg in the kitchen, 7 deg in the leanto.

1003 mBar, 29.62 in Hg, 752.3 Torr, 14.547 psi, (untapped but somewhere between 1013 and 1003), 61% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of December Brillo had the chance of a gig in that Swansea, I went shopping, BR14 was stressed by what was going on with his partner's mum (dementia, respite care), covbob had a cold, and NF observed that the Polish cafe over the road was always busy on a Sunday.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the initial grey gloom, followed eventually by some sunshine.

Lunch: brunch. Nearly reached the end of the BBE 2014 Weetabix. . They haven't killed me yet.

Entertainment: "The Shadow War (not Bab5)" on R4: more chinese perfidy. We plainly didn't use the right kind of opium back in the day..

Tea: chilli con carne (tinned) with rice. Nice enough.

Entertainment: PM <click> when the talking head came on.

Book (the backroom boys one): upsetting.

Maigret: the one with the candle auction (it's some sort of French thing) for an old house. Bit of a locked room thing.

Secrets in the Ice: stone me that narrator is irritating. 8 grave sites: Massacre site in Russia: at a guess offed by the Mongols. US Plane (C47) found on Canadian glacier (not the B36 they lost complete with nuke): crashed without loss of life during search for a missing Skymaster. ANITA in Antarctica: anomalous neutrinos. Glow in the dark snow in Russia. .

        Morning all

Overcast. Damp ground. Currently 4 degrees with a high of 5 expected. Potential for some rain off and on. Weather app says there's low visibility but it doesn't look that bad out the window. Barometer at 1004 mBar.

        Sunrise 07:53; Sunset 16:33

I'm going to miss that extra two hours of daylight I've enjoyed for the past week.

Travel home yesterday was uneventful. Had superb cabin crew, like the BA of old.

Back at the coal face this morning.

Tea has been a chicken and white wine casserole with chips and peas

I concocted the recipe by Googling and reading a few, then putting something together with stuff I had, and it turned out very nice indeed

Tonight's viewing has been 24 Hours in Police Custody which showed the investigation into what must be the most ramshackle, amateurish drug importation scheme ever devised. It'd be funny if it wasn't for the two women who got dragged into it, neither of them being the sharpest tool in the box. At least the courts didn't send them down

And then some more of the Colditz book

Early night now, as I'm supposed to start work at seven in the morning tomorrow. I hope nobody's going to try and argue with me finishing at a concomitant time in the afternoon

              Goodnight all

                Morning denizens

                It's a black start out

Apparently it will be grey later, and there's an 80% chance of rain around lunchtime and then overnight. It'll also get windy. I assume this is due to the storm nobody can pronounce (or not correctly). It's 2°C now (though it "feels like" -2° and will "feel like" -4° by 9am despite being warmer) and leaping up to 7° this afternoon, while the barometers are down a touch more to 990/998mB

Overcast as we started our walk and by the time I had bumped into Paul (friendly bloke from the next village who always says hello to me and Max), it has started to spit.
                  Now it's raining.

Right, the service has been migrated and everybody's happy. Just the one error on the Sentry board I was monitoring, and that was a missing object in S3 which was already missing a couple of weeks ago before the migration, so not our fault

                    Time for breakfast!

                      Morning.

                      Thursday.

                      Wet, raining slightly.

                      Grey. Very.

                      Sunless. Completely.

Chilly in here at 11.1 deg, 9 deg in the kitchen, 8 deg in the leanto.

996 mBar, 29.412 in Hg, 747.1 Torr, 14.445 psi, (down from 1002 last night), 63% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 22nd of December 2019 there was more discussion of "Tinker Tailor" with Obi Wan & how much better it was than the more recent film, there was discussion of the various lurgies going about in those preplague halcyon days, more sympathy share for BR14 & the addled one, while Brillo shared more of Brillo's needful doings taking up much of the page.

It's got much darker & it's hammering down now.

                      Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: The Shadow War on R4: those nice chinese stealing everyone's intellectual property left right & centre.

                      Book.

Sun came out: walk (much abbreviated) walked in sunshine, then the rain returned unbidden.

Freecell score: 100% (of 4), running average: 81%.

                      Tea: beans on toast etc.

                      Entertainment: PM.

Thing on ITV about s driving.

                      Thing on 5 about Cathedrals.

Thing about something else, I forget what. Oh, ufo bollox on Blaze, not that I really watched it but it was on when I was reading stuff about the British Empire.
