It didn't stick to the core though.

And today's attempt has resulted in a burned patch on the work top.

    Ho hum.

Also, I've now found out that the "Master" bedroom is referred to as "principal"
Good job they didn't say principle

There seems to be a brief hiatus in the rain here, though the cars etc. still make a hiss as they go past, and according to the weather radar it'll get worse for quite some time before it gets better

I think that's about the same here. Rain noises now seem to be more dripping off other things rather than active precipitation.

Meanwhile: the joy of revisiting something that seemed to work perfectly last time you looked at it, only to find it doesn't work and, on further investigation, could never have worked unless one very specific circumstance held - which it did when you originally wrote it

            Fixed now

However the wire is now stuck to the core sufficiently for it to tune the thing to Swansea sound and respond to knob twiddling on the front panel.

Opposite here: wireless worked ok until I put it back in the box.

              It's always like that.

Now it's got some curious fault where the gain drops & the distortion rises in two second pulses.

Lunch: poached tomato and scrambled egg (leathery) on Morrison sunflower and pumpkin seed toast (notsothick end crust), corner yog, 0.91 pints of good Glengettie tea.

              <hiatus>

I've tried switching the wireless off and back on again but it didn't make much difference.

                Two thoughts:
                1. Dodgy capacitor
                2. Interference.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

I'm amazed it's worked as well as it has for as long as it has considering the state it's in.

It's quite normal for stuff to work on the bench then fail when put back together.

It's one of the joys of wireless fixing.

In other news, the sun is wanly out, it having paused precipitation for a while.

In fact I'm going for a walk in a minute or so, once the dishes are done.

Lunch of ham, pea and lentil soup out of the freezer with bits of bread

Raining steadily here now, and it seems to have settled in for the afternoon
