The poetry thing on R4 this afternoon at 16:30 featured that famous Australian poet, Clive James.

Who sounded very much as if, as reported, he's on his last legs.

It seems like only yesterday he was reviewing crazy Japanese tv programmes and only slightly before that he was reviewing films.

I think he reviewed films during the 1970s. (I can find no evidence of this. I think it's a senior moment type thing).

He also did TV reviews for the Observer in the mid-to-late 1970s. It used to be one of the few bits of any of the Sunday papers I looked out for each week.

I read somewhere that he pretty much invented the concept of regular TV reviews in the papers.

The burglar alarm from the shop over the road just went off, but it's stopped after a few minutes.

Let's hope it stays that way

(There are several shops over the road, but I don't know which one this came from.)

I suppose I'd better get some sleep before entering upon the ten-day countdown to freedom

          Goodnight

                Morning denizens

The sun's journey is back to the point where it's not quite risen over Sainsbury's Local when the alarm goes off.

However, now it's up, it looks like it's going to be a sunny one
