No. A PS gig is where you work for the public money. Being on JSA is sitting on your arse being a lazy scrounger. HTH.

Most PS gigs I've been in sitting on arse being a lazy scrounger was pretty much the case. Mostly waiting for end client to work out what they actually wanted.

yup brolly or agency PAYE but don't assume they have no takers there are already brolly contractors there not everyone is a PSC you know.

This is true, but the majority of contractors are PSC.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

              I preferred version 1!

Issue even more complicated for those of us who work for consultancies providing services to pulbic sector. No-one knows. I just cant see how that'd work though - client doesnt even know who from consultancy is perm and who is contractor.

Consultancy have emailed all contractors basically saying dunno yet.

Im going to need some sort of clause in contract if I renew. After all, dont want to stay and then find out someone has decided you've got to pay an extra £100 tax a day.

It's not complicated nor unclear - if you look at the examples, chances are 95% (but in your case 99.999995%) certain that you will be inside come April...

Completely agree with eek on this. Psychocandy, there is almost zero chance that you fall outside of the new rules, so you should look to move now. Whether or not they do actually pursue people retrospectively, you have to be worried about that, and eek has made some convincing points that they are indeed intending to target people like you retrospectively.
