Staying in London in summer isn't cheap and at the start of the year there wasn't much about. 7 months over summer is ok. Wouldn't fancy it in winter.

Loads of people doing Donny to London plus travel at the other end.
Hmmm. So assuming 8 hours kip time that gives you less than 2 hours at home each night.

Asleep by midnight, so best part of 4hrs at home. I tend to wake at 5:30 regardless.

And you can easily get showered and dressed in 15 min. Eat / drink on the train.

Im not saying its easy, but its not as hard as it sounds once you get into it. And in my case was better than nothing.

For the last 4 mth I was building a small database app for another client, so 4hrs dev time on the train suited me.

What's the travel time, I assume you are going KGX? I seem to recall the east-coast express route has Peterborough as the last stop before London.

Blimey, it's only 3 hours to Durham and that's the first/last stop?!

Yes I go into KGX, normally about 50 minutes. You can get the FCC train which has an express service but takes about 1hr 5 mins (peak only) or their normal sevice which is 1hr 25 mins that stops at every station into London. With this in mind there is a difference on Season tickets.

If you get the east coast, you can travel on both East Coast and FCC Trains. If you get the FCC season ticket it only allows FCC trains only.

                1 Month £556.80
                3 Month £1,670.40
                6 Months £3,340.80
                12 Months £5,800.00

                East Coast
                7 Days £172.20
                1 Month £661.30
                3 Months £1,983.80
                6 Months £3,967.50
                12 Months £6,888.00

There is a option to add only a 1-6 but depending where your gig is you might be fine without it. These tickets are to "London Terminals" so if your gig is near a London Terminal you "can" get through the underground gateline with your ticket and exit at another London Terminal. A lot of people dont know this but makes a big saving.

How is this traveling business any profitable? I cringe whenever I have to spend £2.50 on a bus return. I wouldn't be able to handle this kind of commute daily.

If you find £2.50 cringeworthy then you'll just need to find a McDonalds within walking distance of where you live. It cost's me more than that to catch the bus to my local town.

Be careful Charles, I'm in banhammer mode today and if I don't think that you're a contractor you'll be a poster here for 2 hours max.
