Silly reasoning. I would say fundamentalists are actually the true followers of Islam and Prophet Mo. From its origins in Arabia, this religion didn't spread preaching Mormon-style. OTOH, Sunni see Shia as heretics and viceversa, so killing them is OK according to the Koran.

The man who introduced fundamentalist violence in Nigeria in the 1970s, Mohammed Marwa, didn't believe that the Mohammed in the Koran was the prophet. He believed he himself was the prophet.

There are many ways to define "fundamentalist". Most of them don't include murdering people. I would describe myself as a fundamentalist Christian (possibly NAT also) but that doesn't mean I have to believe the earth is 6000 years old... that's a secular negative cliche of what fundamentalists often think, not what fundamentalism IS.

There we go a perfect example... stating what "fundamentalist Christians" do. I think you mean "some people who claim to be fundamentalist Christians" or "some people the media labelled fundamentalist Christians".

Considering Jesus directly countermanded that Old Testament on that specific point, you could just be making that up for all I know

Then they're not fundamentalist Muslims, they're people claiming to be fundamentalist Muslims, or more likely those who are labeled fundamentalist Muslims by someone else.

What amazes me about researching the Quran, is that Islamic Scholars still discuss what was meant by his words, which, to me, indicates they don't really understand his words. I am not being glib by saying it's in the interpretation of his words by the powerful and fundamentalist Imam's that produce behaviour as we have seen.

The eye for an eye part was never about revenge, it is about the proportionality of punishment. Almost always misunderstood and misused.
