    Gay Bobs arriving in UK

Would you marry a Bob for £50,000 so he could legally work and live in the UK?

In Belgium only gays from countries where gay marriage is legal can marry so Belgian gays cannot marry a Bob .

I agree with your second point however, for lots of reasons I don't feel comfortable going into.
Yes people still think like this, because it was true in a number of cases.

I'm not suggesting effeminate men are always gay, I just feel a little weird assigning sexuality to a 2 year old. YMMV.

By the time he was in his teens it was obvious he was gay, but at an early age he played noticeably differently to his brothers and people remarked on it.

His twin brother is a little 'action man' so I suspect he got the testosterone.

And is there anything to prevent you getting a piece of paper that gives you a tax break, or is it just personal choice? The only equitable solution would be to abolish marriage and civil partnerships entirely, and I can't see that happening?

When girls in my class started developing breasts. (btw, as just explained to proggy, the poke is meant to imply a statement deliberately designed to provoke, not a statement of belief).

Yes, sexuality is defined in the womb. There may be some issues, but in general yes. To be more precise, it is governed by genetic code. By the way, no matter how eagerly scientist search for a gay gene, they have not found one yet... They found many other genetic codes, for example alcoholism. They can test and show if one has a chance to develop bad alcohol habits.

And why not, let's give them special tax treatment. Alcoholics are born that way, therefore they have the much right to practice alcoholism, and the state should support their habit...

Well, I quote something I said earlier:

"As far as I am concerned they can do whatever they like in their privacy as long as they do not harm others. However, they should not force my conscience to agree with something it does not. [.....] I ask them not to force my conscience. My conscience says it is wrong and that is my private realm. Do not interfere with the freedom of my conscience."
My mind has gone blank. I wonder if it was always that way.

When I first saw Debbie Harry on the telly. (but it was probably decided in the womb)

I got that - many people genuinely say that gay people choose to be gay, but can't actually answer the question of when they decided to be straight. Probably because they didn't decide to be straight at all.

Gay people regularly get asked about when they chose to be gay, whereas no-one asks a straight person when they chose to be straight.

Not really but using that argument why the fuss over marriage when there are civil partnerships already? Marriage is a choice just as staying unmarried. Shouldn't affect your status as it does. The solution I would have thought, is to have some defining criteria that extends beyond 'Are you married/civil partnership'. Join mortgages, responsibilities etc etc... but anyway, this isn't for this thread. My argument is there are other areas to address about couples beyond gay marriage first.
