Sasguru, you are not attacking me, you are attacking your own integrity.
I always wonder why people take things personally when I question their poor understanding of matters.
I'm not attacking you, since I don't know you.
I'm attacking your poor knowledge of biology. To be precise, your crude and ignorant comments about genetics.
But I can't educate you, you have to do that for yourself.

Join mortgages, responsibilities etc etc... but anyway, this isn't for this thread. My argument is there are other areas to address about couples beyond gay marriage first.
However you could always solve the problem by getting married.

CIvil partnerships were intoduced to solve problems where gay people can't specify a legal next-of-kin even though they had lived with someone for 20 odd years and they had left this person everything in their will. Marriage has been introduced to give true equality under various EU directives which means at some point civil partnerships will go.

I know there are issues with marriage vows in the UK as they are religious doctrine enshrined in law. However in other EU countries marriage is only done by the state and the religious bit is an extra ceremony.

AFAIK Muslims already do this here in the UK, from my poll of one from Bolton. I think it is the way forward personally.

C of E weddings are two part, the service then the vows + registration. The C of E vicar gets a special dispensation to do the registration part or a registrar attends. Believe this is one of the reasons they had to allow change of licensing so you could get married anywhere.

Sikhs tend to do the registry office part then up to weeks later have the religious service (they can't get officially jiggy until they have been married in the Temple). Understand it is changing and they have the registrar visit the Temple since the de-restriction of venues.

well maybe sexuality is a lot more complex than you understand. However I contend many gay people have no choice about their sexuality just as many Africans have no choice about being brown.

You had an opportunity to refute my comment, but you chose instead calling me names: "You're a prime exemplar of the saying...". Anyway, I am glad that was not an attack and we are on good terms now.

I am also glad this is not a personal attack rather a comment regarding to the subject we discussed earlier: "To be precise, your crude and ignorant comments about genetics."

Sasguru, thank you for your comments I appreciate them very much. I am already learning quite a bit from you.
My mind has gone blank. I wonder if it was always that way.

vetran. never argue with a religious person who thinks that most other religious people are mad, and that they are the only sane one around

back to the purpose of this thread. While this can't be used as an accurate sample, there are more against gay marriage than there are for. Those who are indifferent are the rest.....

Totally agree. I've always been a supporter of disestablishmentarianism.
