If that's a list specifically about ICT workers who happen to be Indian, rather than about Indian people, then it seems quite well thought out to me.Originally posted by CoolCat View PostThings I don’t like about BobsOriginally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I have lots of Indian friends, and indeed feel like setting up a union to help the bob workers from all the abuse they suffer.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIf that's a list specifically about ICT workers who happen to be Indian, rather than about Indian people, then it seems quite well thought out to me.Comment

In my experience a third of bobs are good, a third are OK, and a third are rubbish. Pretty much the same split as you get in any workforce. However, throw in communication difficulties, cultural differences and conflicting corporate loyalties and it often ends in frustration.
Add the fact that it is rarely in the native UK's team's interests to make offshoring work, and it's hardly surprising it doesn't.Comment

Much of that abuse comes from their own management. That's half the problem - they are scared to admit things are not "fine".Originally posted by CoolCat View PostI have lots of Indian friends, and indeed feel like setting up a union to help the bob workers from all the abuse they suffer.Comment

yep thats part of the problem. the nature of the visa means they are tied to one employer they cannot resign without loosing the right to be in the country. and for many that means going back home to shame as their family have spent a fortune on their education, and often going back to financial problems/family to support/no state safety net/etc.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostMuch of that abuse comes from their own management. At one contract I was constantly being told: "We kicked your a**es out of our country". Also, anyone there with a physical disability was referred to as a "bad person". Attitudes like that can stay in India.Originally posted by CoolCat View PostThings I don’t like about Bobs:
1 Their routine caste on caste and anti British racism. They really do think one caste is better than another and look down on others in the worst possible ways.
I've met onshorers with qualifications falling out of their a** who turned out to have less skill than first-year computer scientists. I'm not sure if their qualifications are bogus or just not worth the paper they're written on.Originally posted by CoolCat View Post4 Their bogus qualifications.Comment

Well India is a country in which anything can be bribed or bought.Originally posted by Cenobite View PostI've met onshorers with qualifications falling out of their a** who turned out to have less skill than first-year computer scientists. Including the British government. And Western company managers.Comment

So basically its imported "slave" labour. Granted they are being paid a "wage" but as they cannot leave they are stuck on the pay they were first offered with no means of improving it elsewhere.Originally posted by CoolCat View Postyep thats part of the problem. the nature of the visa means they are tied to one employer they cannot resign without loosing the right to be in the country. and for many that means going back home to shame as their family have spent a fortune on their education, and often going back to financial problems/family to support/no state safety net/etc.
Who on earth came up with this plan and let it throw. Yes I know its the same Labour Government that allowed 10million eastern Europeans in to keep minimum wages low but didn't they think (this is sarcasm by the way).merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment
