I work with two Bobs - both contractors.
One of them is a cracking fella. Knows his stuff, works hard, and is, genuinely, a nice bloke. Been treated like crap by client mind.
Other one is a nightmare as per other threads. Clueless. Very good at making themselves look good and client loves them for some reason.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

You do get some decent ones onshore but I have never, never worked with one offshore that is anywhere near capable (and that is quite a lot).
The Bob body shops obviously know who they can send over and who has to be hidden from the end client back home.Comment

I have never worked directly, as in the same building, with a bob but I think I had that Dutch footballer, Rafael van der Vaart in the next trap to me today.
I did a contract where I was the chief big boss tester for a new product and was assigned a bobette based in the sub-continent who I had to get to test some Windows functionality for me. I ended up writing out exactly how to do it, even down to the commands and and data to input so it would have actually been quicker for me to do it. Once I had actually explained everything in extremely clear and precise detail to her, the reports I got back were very concise and quite good. She also used to come in on the weekly conference call and we never heard a peep from her but all in all, at the end of the day she did a good job (unlike the English and Aussies I had to deal with on a quick contract in London, not only were they ******* useless but they didn't do any work either!)“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Things I don’t like about Bobs:
Things I don’t like about Bobs:
1 Their routine caste on caste and anti British racism. They really do think one caste is better than another and look down on others in the worst possible ways.
2 Their really poor attitude to females.
3 The widespread plagiarism in their work.
4 Their bogus qualifications.
5 The fact they get to work employer and employee national insurance free for their first 12 months in the country.
6 They get to claim a whole bunch of things against tax as “expenses” which Brits working away from home within the UK cannot.
7 They get free schooling for their children (which of course any Brits working in India would not get).
8 They get free NHS for themselves and their family, and they often synchronise their working visits here precisely when their wife needs an expensive operation… for the NHS to pick up the tab.
9 They will sleep 6 to a room, and rent and occupy places to stay which become clear fire risks with their over occupation.
10 Their inbuilt cultural reluctance to admit they are wrong, or that they do not understand, even when it’s clear with knobs on that they have lost the thread of a discussion.
11 Their routine underestimation.
12 Far too much rework needed, far too much poor quality deliverables.
13 Their systematic movement of British intellectual property back to Bobland.
14 Their routine breaking of the data protection act, the number of Bob outsourcers running systems with end consumer personal data back in bobland (and in breach of the “data not to leave the EU”) aspect of the data protection act is amazing. They all do it.
15 The routine bullying and harassment of their junior staff. The way they thing working long hours equals success when they are mostly delivering rubbish.
15 The fact far too many of them have been given indefinite leave to remain in the UK and indeed British passports simply for working here a while – when I work abroad I don’t expect to pickup a local passport simply for working there a while.
16 The fact they get to vote here (because they are commonwealth citizens) even though they are supposed to be here only on a work visa. Distorts voting patterns in s some places.
17 The fact intra company transfer visas are being used in ways they were never designed for, to get round caps on other visas caps, when there are no shortages of information technology skills in the UK or EU. They are just being subcontracted and bodyshopped and mostly have no real need to be here for the intended purposed of ICT visas (need for some staff with knowledge of their specific companies specialised approaches).
18 The lies on their status reports.
19 The fact the underlying business model is remarkably like slave trading and intellectual property theft in all but name.
20 The fact it’s so hard for Brits to get work visas to India, the perks are all one way.
21 The fact the badly named EU/India “free trade” agreement (its little to do with free trade) will force the UK to accept ever higher numbers of Bobs.
22 The outright lies from their senior managers.
23 Their hygiene
24 The routine fraud on their CV’s
25 Their spouse gets unrestricted rights to work, why?
26 The way the Bob outsourcing companies are all engaged in mass tax avoidance, register their companies in tax havens etc. For instance "Cognizant UK Ltd" is actually a company registered in Mauritius not the UK, and this also means they dont have to file accounts with company house (or the equivalent).Last edited by CoolCat; 13 February 2013, 20:24.Comment

I can appreciate that you are quite angry at the moment and feel like ranting, possibly because it is valentine's day tomorrow and you havent got a pussy yet, but some of the points above cannot be blamed on Bobs, isnt it? Spouse gets unrestricted rights etc are all nothing to do with Bobs, blame the politicians who devised the laws. Same goes for your rant on free schooling and NHS and companies not registered in UK, nothing to do with Bobs. Bear in mind that most Bobs just want a better life and will go anywhere. Heck, I have found Indian restaurant in remote South America and the chap immigrated there decades ago somehow.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment
