Calling it theft is wrong, as it is when you accuse her of theft for claiming her entitlement.

I didn't accuse her of theft. The gov is the thief, and it did it on her behalf.

I didn't understand that was what you meant, so I apologise.

          My general points still stand.

the government are not thieves they are collecting taxes as any government must to be able to run a country

the problem is the way the current system is set up allows people to live well without working

and this stems from an attitude which sees these people as victims of something and therefore they need to be compensated.

there seems to be a naive assumption that if we give them money they will realise the error of their ways and go and get a job...

3rd generation dolites kind of prove that to be an incorrect assumption

So we understand it and we change it so that people get no luxuries except those they work for.

Giving money to poor people is not necessary for running a country.

If taking benefits is 'stealing' then avoiding NI and PAYE has to be stealing too.

No, it's avoiding being stolen from.

And now, some facts that the Daily Mail unaccountably left out of its story: The Green Benches: In defence of Leanna Broderick, the single mother whose life was caricatured by the Daily Mail.
