Is this adding up for you? cos it sure isn't for me.

Even assuming this story is (semi)genuine, there is no evidence that she's a prostitute or doing other cash in hand jobs. She probably doesn't drink excessively, smoke or run a car, and shops carefully.
Some of you seem to get your opinions of 'feckless' Britain from that hilarious circus the Jeremy Kyle show. That's interesting because it's generally on when tax and NI dodging IT ninjas are at work.
I'm not saying she is doing other things on the side or anything illegal. However, 15k is coming out of the taxpayer's pocket against their consent, and going into her's, more commonly know as theft.

The entire system of benefits is nonsense. Why am i not allowed to walk into a shop and steal things that i want, but she is allowed to steal because she can't control what goes up her fanny?

It's quite baffling how society ever deemed this acceptable.

The point is the kids at school don't care. It's a learned behaviour and unlearning it is very tough.

No reason for anyone to sit on their arse and claim benefits unless they or close relative have serious GENUINE health problems.
Really - there are enough jobs for all those on benefits if they all start looking? You can tell any individual claimee there is a job for them but that only works if the rest don't want it.

And also, there are people who are not ill who DO want to work but can't find any. I know a couple of people who might be classed as having 'learning difficulties' these days but are basically just very thick. They're nice people and have been going to interviews and motivated to find work for years, but either can't get any or only get short state-assisted placements. These people DO go to educational courses - over and over again - but ultimately a shop will just give the minimum-wage shift work to a teenager or student wanting a part-time job over a 40 year old dummy.

Hence the need for a constitutionally bound democratic system imposing limits on what can or cannot be done with taxpayer's money.

Robby why don't you go to a country where poor people are allowed to die and rot, if that's what you prefer?

The welfare state is not liberal leftie nonsense, there is not one political party in the UK who thinks we shouldn't have it.

"Benefits is theft" - what a moron.

Can someone just find her number in the book and give her a call to see if she will quote a price for the night

No point in spending the whole thread guessing, lets get some evidence.

That is a genuine problem - e.g. people who simply are way below average in the smarts stakes.

What can you do? Should society do the humane thing and put them down as they have no value?

I really have no answer to this but know it exists.

Pentwyn is no better the majority of the new housing estates all have houses owned by the council or housing association so each street is guaranteed to have strivers on which majority are law abiding and hardworking but it only takes a few and you've the neighbours from hell
LOL. Thats quite cool having a mother caught for benefits fiddling.

                    Care to qualify that statement?

Taking something from somebody against their will and giving it to someone else is the very definition of theft.

Secondly, why should the tax payer pay for the education of the lazy or unmotivated? Finally, many jobs barely need any education, or can be picked up on the job and not taught in the classroom.
                      1. They don't need to learn anything from it for it to be effective, as the first part of a process to wean them off benefits it gets them up out of bed and gives them responsibilities. It also means they can't work illegally.

                      2. The level of education they are shooting for is not Degree level, we are talking basic literacy, numeracy and customer service skills. Help with their CV and interview skills. If it is effective long term it will be cheaper for them to be in work than lying on their back turning out little scroungers or shoplifting etc. People in work are normally cheaper to run than people without hope even if you subsidise them. Also many on the dole are not skilled with new technology so fail interviews on that basis, train them up (we are talking MSoffice here) they can apply decades of experience to new jobs.

                      3. Many of the migrants are highly educated and accomplished or very, very motivated, the kind of people that move a few thousand miles for work are likely to be bright and pushy. That is the competition, they need to win against.

                      4. As pointed out most jobs need some level of education, they may have missed it at school or it wasn't available so we owe it to them to try.

                      5. as a first step back to work we can establish why they are unemployed and target the skills they need plus provide a report to prospective employers.
If they bunk, they lose their benefits so a cost saving there. I suspect each person on benefits capable of work costs around £30,000 even if we make them work for someone for minimum wage we can halve that at least.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
