I think it's a parents duty to instil a decent appreciation of what matters or not in life - and I will categorically say that any child of mine will swiftly be removed of the notion that crying over a sporting event is acceptable behaviour.
Read the thread again - apart from Churchill's initial misjudged post he made some good points including educating children to not to worry about things they can't control.

Agreed, it would have to be considered a bit on the soft side to be crying about your team losing if you're 32, but the lad was only 7.

It might have been the first time it happened. The original poster mentioned it in passing, and got congratulated on raising the next generation of scum. I don't get wound up by much, but I found that to be totally offensive.
