You all rock - thank you very much for the support ladies.

I'm getting embarrassed now though, so I'm going to try and not talk about it again until I update my sig.
I'm sure everyone is all slim-fasted out!

So lets let this thread go for a while eh?

    The pope is a tard.

Yes, cycling is a dangerous form of transport in that the tolerance to mistakes is very low.

        Just don't make mistakes!

        Although YMMV.

SallyAnne, do you mind if I join you on this weight loss thing? I'll do the same with my sig if that's ok? I can't do slimfast though, I've tried before and I didn't enjoy it much.

My story is that until I was 21ish, I was always very slim. About 9-9 1/2 stone. I then took up one of the most intensive sports you could ever play, which turned out to be a big mistake in the long run! Don't laugh, but I played Ultimate Frisbee. Training twice a week and playing on average a tournament every other weekend (for the whole weekend - worked out at around 6 x 90 minute games over the weekend usually) and got pretty fit. Put some weight on though, was about 10 1/2 after a while and a dress size bigger, but it was mainly muscle.

Then about 5 years ago I bust my leg up falling off a motorcycle and my knee is now shot. I can't play any more. I've now gone up to 12 1/2 stone and am another 2 dress sizes bigger.

But, it's not because I don't exercise now, it's because I eat more. Before I started playing Ultimate, I didn't exercise AT ALL but was a nice 9 1/2 stone. Eating was something that was required, not something I particularly enjoyed or even thought about much. I put muscle on and started eating more as a consequence of the exercise and also at some point, I started to really enjoy food!

I haven't worked out yet how to change my mind-set into going back to eating less now that I'm not doing as much exercise! It doesn't help that my hubby is a big fella and eats like a horse!

I've been going to a Personal Trainer for about 6-7 weeks and although I feel fitter and healthier, I haven't lost a single pound. So it's time to sort out the food. I'm not going to stop with the PT because I do feel good and I need the motivation of an appointment with someone to get me to the gym, but I now know that I need to do more. I'm going to go out and buy myself some smaller plates I think! We don't eat a whole load of rubbish, I think I just eat more than I need to. It's all about quantity for me.

Thanks for reading - this section feels very much like a self-help group at the moment!

                      Wow Ruth!!!!

I reckon posting your weight (if you've been totally honest) will be more than enough to spur you on!
I'm loving that you're joining me (although your starting weight would be my dream weight you skinny cow)

And yeah, I think this thread has turned into a bit of a self help group eh? Which is cool. We're a little family on here anyway when we let ourselves. We should look after each other more anyway, instead of just constantly taking the p*ss.

See you at the weigh in - if not before
