Cheers Sandy - I'm sticking with my delicious slimfast for now, but once I hit a bump (which I will!) I might check that out. It sounds like something that can be stuck to for life, which is a very good thing.
no not a wind up it true- I just love nuts, not the meaty type of nuts though

I am trying to quit it and if I have some I try to have raw nuts not salted or roasted cuz they are more addictive, also found Almonds are the best from calories point of view .. mind you I buy raw almonds then find myself roasting then at home in my weakness moment

Oh well now am on maintenance I can afford more nuts.

Good luck with your slimfast food fasting is a good way to kick start your loss, and when you get bored then you can think of other strategies

I second this, although the meetings can be useful if you're getting started.

Confession time - I'm just shy of 20st although I was 25st a few years ago. I've lost momentum over the past few years as life is totally bearable again (I can run, I can buy clothes etc), so it makes it hard to focus and lose more. Trust me, you never want to get to the stage where, for example, you won't get on a cheap flight because you're worried about getting stuck in the seat!

As for exercise, it's crucial - stepper machines are a good place for people who don't exercise, whereas running machines seem to be bad (easier to sprain something). IANAPT though.

Edit: I just read on that you're already 5lbs in. Well done! If it works, keep going - nothing to lose apart from a few more lbs!

Hey, what the heck I thought, if you know me then you've probably guessed my weight, right?

PS you weigh about as much as my leg.

I can understand why people don't exercise - the gym is boring. But I believe everyone has the capacity to exercise more - if you like going out for example then dance! Or take that walk (or bike) to the shops rather than the car.
I'm hyper anyway so probably lose a lot of calories through fidgeting (and typing on here he he)

The problem with cycling is that you can't really make many mistakes if you're on the road. I seriously do not fancy it as a safe mode of transport. Plus the shower when you get into work etc... Hassle!

                I love you

And you can tell you're a ex-fatty too, as you have a well developed personality

I tel you what - I'm a bit scared by this stuff!! I've lost 7lbs now!! Half a stone in 4 days

Obviously, the bigger you are the more you lose...and I also know that most of this is just initial water and stuff......but all the same

Its so easy too, and I dont care what any of you say, this is the healthiest I've felt in months!! Its really just a calorie controled diet, but packed with nutrients!
And I haven't had a shake past my lips yet!!

Aw bless. Not sure I'm quite ready to go that far

Ex-fatty? Got a bit to go before I can claim that title

(On a side note: does anyone remember that pleb program on telly where they were giving away money to people and you just had to come up and ask for it, make a pitch? There was an IT contractor who went up and asked for several grand to have that excess-skin-removal surgery for ex-fatties. I remember thinking 'what sort of a contractor begs for money?' - he brought shame to the profession! )

Well done on the weight loss, remember to keep drinking water and getting your vitamins etc. And don't be disheartened when all of a sudden the weight loss stops - sometimes your body realises it's losing weight and puts the brakes on; apparently it's not 'natural' to lose weight.
