Oh SA I forgot to tell you, one of the ladies in my support group lost 95lbs in 10 months, she's also a cheese addict, and got to keep her cheese throughout the weight loss programme, it is important for her to keep the things she liked so she could last the whole period, not nice to feel so deprived.. she still have some way to go (start weight is 301 lbs - present weight 205lbs) as you can see she started off a lot heavier than you, if she can do it so can you
Its not rocket science - If you eat more calories than you burn - you get fat.
cut down on foods that are bad for you and take some excercise.
start gentle with walking / swimming - as you improve you can take up jogging which is the undisputed way to burn calories fast. Once you can manage a few jogging sessions a week with a sensible diet the weight will fall off..
No easy answers i'm afraid - all crash diets etc are doomed without a lifestlye change
The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven
Isn't this too much Sandy? (Or is that just a stupid thing to say?)
Does everyone follow a particular diet, or do all the ladies do different things?
Edit: oops, I was thinking she was averaging 9lbs per week...but its per month isn't it. Doh!
I found that the easiest way to lose weight was to get a head start with the Atkins. Do it for up to 3 months depending on how big you originally are. If stuck to you are guaranteed to lose a vast amount of weight, not to be done for long stretches though. Then combine the diet with exercise. I found exercise automatically kerbs your appetite anyway. It’s very hard to eat a huge meal after the gym.

Do you think its too fast? I don’t know but I know she had a health related motive, she has a weak heart and Drs warned her that if she doesn’t lose the weight her heart would suffer badly, so she had no choice if she wants to stay alive for her daughter. She feels better than ever now and she is being monitored by her Dr closely.
We do things slightly differently - we need to tweak our diets because we all have different start weights and different food weaknesses that we can't live without.. so we eliminate food items we are not incredibly fond of or wouldn't miss very much.
e.g. that lady can't live without cheese so she has to give up things which she didn't like , so she eliminated other stuff - I think she eats mainly cheese, chicken and tons of veggies
Me, I really like meat, especially red meat (Steak is my fav) so I need to tweak my intake to keep the meat in it - I eliminated wheat, I am already intolerant to wheat so can’t have it any way, and alcohol and don’t really miss it cuz I never was a great drinker anyways, when I eat meat I make sure its plain meat, i.e. no hotdogs, sausages or burgers just plain steak/beef also I don't mind eating low fat cheese (Quark etc I even make cheesecake with Quark )… the thing I miss is avoiding nuts, I love nuts but they are highly calorific, so I do miss them. Happy to share my menu with you, but its best to personalise your menu to your own liking
Perhaps it’s a good idea to make a list of foods, categorise with food you can’t live without, food you can live without for a short while or a few months but can’t see yourself quitting, and food you can quit for life…
Cheers Sandy - I'm sticking with my delicious slimfast for now, but once I hit a bump (which I will!) I might check that out. It sounds like something that can be stuck to for life, which is a very good thing.

Keep going SA, but from the sounds of it you have plenty of bumps
How was the weekend trip looking for the special dress?
