Wait for gov to agree on some sort of internal "vetting" which allows temp workers to do the same.

Btw weren't banks kicking out anyone who has SC but isn't permanently living in the UK? I've read something along these lines somewhere in the market thread on here.

You won't get SC or above if you don't come from a country with a recognised standard of ID checking, or any that are seen as being "enemies" of the UK. India passes on both counts (perhaps sadly, in this context!).

That said, the guy that wrote the software that drove the MOD's secure WAN routers was the son of two known KGB operatives. He had SC so he could talk to and work with MOD people, but was refused any access to real, live data. There are always nuances in vetting!

I worked with a Lebanese with SC. He had only been in the UK for six months. BTW: He was a complete idiot and waste of space.

May be Lebanese, but that doesn't mean he wasn't living outside Lebanon. when he went through vetting...

I decided to write to my MP.

Turns out this is what she said in parliament yesterday on hearing the news about the trade agreements recently struck:

I congratulate the Minister and this Labour Government on achieving not just one trade deal but two historic deals in the space of a week. I am a vegetarian, but many of my constituents like nothing better than a chicken curry on the streets of Southall Broadway. Can the Minister categorically assure the House that this deal will protect our British food standards and, in particular, that chlorinated chicken and hormone-injected beef will remain illegal in this country?
I think my letter will fall on deaf ears.

With a little luck India and Pakistan will take themselves out of the equation. If we're really lucky they'll start fighting on British streets and we'll have the opportunity in assisting them in meeting their respective gods.

I agree but it'll allow me to let off a bit of steam. I've been reading the latest tulip from yesterdays announcement, and the people who decide if IT can go on the special list for even lower minimum salaries are the same people who benefit from the cheap labour. There is wriggle room all over the place to allow them to keep the immigration taps flowing.

It wasn't SC, but some sort of internal vetting, my bad.
