what did you do [will you do] in your 50th year?

Turning 30 didn't flinch, 40 is a breeze too, especially if you're on your way to achieving basic life goals. 50 on the other hand seems to be a very different milestone, one that leads only to a downhill path into what is the last of your healthiest decades.

So do you celebrate the fact that by some miracle you are still alive and relatively healthy? And how did you celebrate the 50th year (not necessarily just the actual birthday)?

Or do you commiserate the impending doom and play out the multitude of end-of-life variables that could strike at any time?

I had a plan to have a bit of a do with the family and friends, go to Vegas with the missus (although I go most years with my mate) and was going to buy myself a fancy car.

Four weeks after my birthday covid lockdown started and that was that. F*** you covid.

Dunno yet I have until late next year.
Haven't really thought about it to be quite honest.
However with a very impaired life expectancy what ever celebrations I plan could actually be a very moot point.
A lazy week on the beers in the sun sounds like a good plan though.

I think I was fixing fruit machines. Well it passed the time.

If you're being pedantic, surely it would be your 49th birthday rather than your 40th?

I made lunch & dinner for family and we went out for desert, came back and watched a movie at home.

Went to Palma for a long weekend with 'er indoors. Rather pleasant it was too!

I didn't want any fuss. But my sister-in-law insisted on organising things. So I ended up have three parties that I didn't want.

My 50th birthday was during the March of the first lockdown. We were supposed to be going skiing.
Didn’t really do anything special that year.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
