Well she clearly isn't part of the female comedians (alleged) WhatsApp group where they warn each other about working with certain men."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JR -
Not correct, there were many police reports against Saville.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostFor the same reasons that they didn't with Bill Cosby, Saville etc.
The Saville report said, he could been stopped as early as 1964 but police mishandled evidence and dismissed victims.
Brand had sex with 100s of women yet none went to the police?

Too little too late and will be ignored now a witch hunt has started. Be interesting to see how they get to the truth of the matter. I'm sure he's pissed off a lot of people, mainly women, a percentage of which will be queueing up to stick the knife in.Originally posted by CoolCat View Post
Is Dispatches one of the programs that will attempt to get to the truth or is it one of those that will just sensationlise it and give a very skewed view?

It's like panorama. They have a generally good record. If anything I think they tend to pull their punches due to the sensitive topics they investigate.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostIs Dispatches one of the programs that will attempt to get to the truth or is it one of those that will just sensationlise it and give a very skewed view?
Be interesting to see if Katy Perry speaks out. Following their divorce she pretty much said she has dirt on Brand but isn't allowed to disclose it.Comment

I don't think any of us can say for sure, without knowing who those women are or what actually happened.Originally posted by Fraidycat View PostWhy didn't any of these women go to the police at the time?
However, I saw something on Twitter which address this question more generally:
Natasha Day MBE on X: "At 17 years old I went out drinking, woke up half naked knowing something wasn’t right. I couldn’t remember what happened and I didn’t think I’d drank anywhere near enough to lose my memory. My phone was dead and my money was gone and I used a friends phone to get my family to…" / X (twitter.com)
It's long, but I'll quote it in full:
I think it's plausible that someone would say "It's not worth the effort, nobody will believe me".At 17 years old I went out drinking, woke up half naked knowing something wasn’t right. I couldn’t remember what happened and I didn’t think I’d drank anywhere near enough to lose my memory. My phone was dead and my money was gone and I used a friends phone to get my family to come pick me up.
I went to the police, and no samples were taken, the way the questioned me made me doubt myself and they made out I was lying. It was then implied that I had bought ‘whatever happened’ on myself by drinking in excess. My family didn’t believe me either. It was one of the reasons I was so eager to get away from home and joined the Army.
I later found a video on my phone of me unconscious with 3 men groping me and putting their hands down my pants.
I deleted it, I was scared and ashamed, and felt that it was my fault.
I hope things are better for women now, but I know they’re not. God how I wish I had had the courage to take the video to the police station and I live with that regret constantly. Constantly.
It’s one of the reasons I advocate so heavily for women now, because deep down I’m still a scared 17 year old who still doesn’t know if she was raped or drugged.
I don’t want sympathy. I do not want this to turn into a witch-hunt against the police. But I do want to stop seeing tweets asking why people don’t come forward. Because this is why they don’t come forward.
Again, I don't know any details about this particular case, but I wouldn't dismiss the reports out of hand just because of the delay.Comment

It's a bit of a catch-22. Any advocacy around low reporting and conviction numbers must surely have a negative impact on victims coming forward. If you stop and think about it, if all you have heard is no one will believe you, even if they did, the process will be long and traumatic with low prospect of conviction. I can't blame people for nothing bothering.Originally posted by hobnob View Post

Hell I think most of us are at the point where we wouldn't bother reporting many crimes because it's just not worth it and nothing happens. If we didn't need a crime number for insurance purposes reporting rates would drop further.

You forgot to mention even if the police and CPS believe her then a jury is unlikely to.

The drugging almost certainly happens. Not sure this was the case here.Originally posted by hobnob View Post/

Here I suspect it was he is the star give him what he wants combine that with him being a recognised predator by his employers allegedly., junior staff would find it more difficult to refuse. Whether this crosses the line to rape I am not sure.Comment

Watched one of those Police 24 hours type documentaries a few years ago.
A woman was found in the early hours of the morning, in a state of semi-dress, by tenants in a shared house. They didn't know who she was, and they called the Police. The woman had no recollection of how she got there, or what had happened the night before. She'd never been to the house before.
I think she was encouraged by the Police to do a rape kit.
The Police found CCTV footage from the street outside, which showed her being approached by a man and "escorted" into the house. She seemed intoxicated.
The Police convinced her that she had been raped, and persuaded her to press charges. The man didn't live in the house but the Police somehow tracked him down, and arrested him. The woman didn't know him. The Police wanted to charge him but the CPS refused.
I felt so sorry for her. She was left with the knowledge that she had been raped but received no justice. Had it not been for the Police, she might have just chalked the night up as a "misadventure".Comment
