My money is on Ireland unifying first. Said that since before the first Scottish referendum. The arithmetic in Ireland is headed that way, and they can hold a referendum if they can get it through their assembly. The only obstacle to that is the DUP actually stopping the assembly from sitting.

This page shows SNP with 52 and Cons with 48 https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/...tion_main.html sure that's not particularly accurate in reality.

THe government won't call a GE now, of course, because they would be wiped out. Seems to me there should be some sort of mechanism outside of the control of the current government for situations like this - some kind of national level recall petition. It is absurd that a government without a mandate and with virtually no support across the country can hang on to power for another two years. The only comparable in my life time I can think of is Major, but at least he was elected and notionally had some sort of mandate at least initially.

Ireland has only ever been unified under English rule. Learn your history.

The Tory MPs can bring down the government. I wouldn't say this was entirely implausible. It's easy to say no Tory MP would ever vote this way but off the front benches I disagree.
The Monarch can also intervene as that sort of exceptional interference but seems very unlikely.

Trip to Salisbury, hit by a bus, spins so hard she drills a hole in the ground... who knows.

A unified Ireland sounds a great idea.
yep we can leave them to slaughter each other based on their imaginary friends like the partition.
