Actually, d000hg, I was mocking you for precisely that ineptitude.

Dunno if she has the experience but this Kemi Badenoch sounds really sensible, the sort of Conservative leader we should have. A black lady PM would appeal to the liberals too.

      PS Maybe she wouldn't:

Even minority people who oppose woke views that blame everything on racism seem to be disliked by "liberals". Like Trevor Phillips, another very sensible person.

She is described by some MPs as the type of person to cross the road to get into a fight.

Well-placed sources have now confirmed that HMRC, the National Crime Agency and the Serious Fraud Office had all been involved in a “detailed investigation” into Mr Zahawi. It is understood that the HMRC investigation is being conducted by a unit that is responsible for offshore tax issues.

The investigation was launched in 2020, the year Mr Zahawi rose to political prominence as vaccines minister during the pandemic.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Mr Zahawi, a popular and respected figure among Tory MPs.

Or, to put it another way, he was subjected to a clearance process when appointed to a governmental role. Just like every other politician with a governmental role.

Didn't realise he was the guy who set up You.Gov though...

But most politicians are not using dodgy offshore tax loopholes. Although it does seem more and more do.

Who said it was dodgy? Nobody is supposed to pay taxes they don't actually owe, remember. Although tell that to Mrs Sunak, or all the MPs that have PSCs to process their outside parliamentary earnings (which they probably wouldn't have if they weren't MPs....).

And on that subject, the current and previous chancellors, one is for high taxation and not changing the financial regime, having bought the Treasury line that higher taxes mean more tax revenues (which we all know to be a nonsense) and the other is about reducing taxes and VAT to drive down inflation and address the cost of living crisis. I know which I prefer. YMMV.
