I suppose some stats needed to understand how far from home people tend to be when they run out (or risk running out) of charge.

It's just to get them that last 10 miles, say, then you don't need to deliver a full charge.

Or... How about developing a charging method that doesn't require you to stop for an hour? A bit like aire-to-air refuelling? Could have trucks roaming the highways, ready to come to the aid of drivers low on battery power and connecting via some kind of umbilical cord to deliver a quick power boost.

hell no. its bad enough when some idiot in a fast german car is searching for their phone ,imagine if they were tethered behind a truck, they would be genetically programmed to overtake it without indicators.

I have an image of a BMW 3 inches from my jacksie flashing his lights in the outside lane towing a 40 tonner via the umbilical cord.

I'm sure I've seen this mooted but you'd basically dock to the truck and be towed somehow.
With self-driving type tech, you can have vehicles follow each other at white-van distances very safely - in fact it grants you peleton-esque drafting efficiencies.

However I think roads which charge as you drive are more likely.

I will go for the efficient ones. I'm not sure if wireless is necessarily the only option. Loads of people are floating ideas of varying daftness but the huge problem is infrastructure and standardisation.
A bit of chicken and egg - if you were starting from scratch it's far easier but you have to work around all the existing road users.

Yes but that's far too sensible.

the new electric ambulance has a trailer with a 250 mile battery add on.

So maybe a van with a trailer you can drop back to the mothership to recharge?

I am considering the possibility of buying electric 2 wheeler as my business is sometimes taking me to Birmingham and the railway station is located 3 miles from my house. I would need something easily portable as platform is very low so I would not be wanting anything too heavy as I have to lift it quite a ways. I understand it is possible to travel with a folding bike on the trains with no restriction or booking requirements. Is anybody else travelling in this manner and if so can you cooperate this informations. Thankyou.
