EDF supply up to 22kW but you need a three-phase supply for that, which I suspect costs a few bob to sort outOriginally posted by Scorp1 View Post
Domestic installations 7kw max. Stipulated in IET Wiring Regs

yes three phase is more costly for an underground cable than over head lines. DNO's are very reluctant to have three phase in domestic installations due to the potential difference between single phase appliances. With three phase you need to bring in a neutral as your would have single phase loads. But I think some DNOs are now having to look into it.Originally posted by ladymuck View Post

7kw will load the grid enough when we all have it.Originally posted by ladymuck View Post

They bring in a neutral anyway.Originally posted by Scorp1 View Post

The distribution transformer secondary is star connected.

After a mere 45 years, that HNC "Supply & Utilisation" module finally came in handy, like.

Would that apply to a diesel generator in the back of a van though?Originally posted by Scorp1 View Post

Something like this 90kW job:

It's over 1.5 tonnes, so you would need quite a big van.
Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment

Could you not tow it on a trailer and so not need a bit of ex-Army surplus kit to drive it about?Originally posted by DealorNoDeal View Post

You could but you night need to disguise it. The extinction rebellion lot might take a dim view of charging EVs with a diesel generator.Originally posted by ladymuck View Post

You're missing a trick. You don't need a generator you need a van full of batteries. This can deliver a far, far larger wattage to the limit of the 'pipe' you can supply - proper fast charge. You will need to recharge your own batteries of course but that's just logistics and you can reasonably get several car charges from your van especially if you only charge people enough to get to where they need to go with its own charger.
This is essentially like having Tesla's PowerWall in your house except it's in a van.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
