The Scottish border should be simpler than the Irish border. There might be practical difficulties (in terms of stopping smuggling), but in general terms you'd have a land border between 2 separate countries (similar to how Switzerland does it). The problem at the moment is that you either have border in the middle of the UK (between GB and NI) or between NI and the Republic of Ireland.

The two are very closely linked but not exactly the same. Many people vote SNP because the alternatives are just a bunch of clusterf***s but that doesn't mean they support independence.
