I also still buy DVDs, especially for box sets of TV series. Taking "Frasier" as an example, it currently costs £40 to get all 11 seasons on DVD. If you want to stream them, it costs £110 (£10 per season).

They often come up in sales too for ridiculous prices. Also handy for holidays - lots of B'n'b type places don't have great streaming provision but will have a DVD player for rainy afternoons.

Come on grandad. Times have changed. Netflix, spotify, sub 12 month old iphone, leased A45 etc all more important than food to young uns nowadays.

And most younger ones are using mum and dads/friends accounts anyway.

A monthly sub to Netflix, Prime and Disney+ combined is less than a family visit to the cinema once a month. And probably less than even the basic Sky package. As disposable entertainment goes, it's pretty good bang for your buck.

the show that I was mentioning isn't on the other networks, which was to be expected because most of them are usually trash and interested in collecting the subscription with min effort.

Stick Kodi on it. Or Recalbox if you want integrated gaming.
Get some add ons for Kofi for your chosen channels. (SkyMovies/Sky Sports/Porno/Bloomberg/Al Jezeera etc are all available)

You can also use charity shops as DVD rentals.

Go in there, pay £1-2 for a DVD, watch it, take it back to them with their price still on it. You get to watch a film and donate to a charity, and they get it back to sell again

I can see some for sale on ebay for 5-6£ but unfortunately I do not own a dvd player.

no charities that I know of in Isle of Dogs and that probably in time and effort will cost me more than AMZ retail price.

my question is how do regular people do it? I know how people do it where I come from - get it off torrent. but we are honest and decent people around here so we can't do that.

or have a record for getting caught for piracy.

I was at the pub today, two pints were £9 so one round = Prime monthly 3 pints= Netflix montyhly.

an iPhone is £30-40 a month so the two above are cheap.

I have a £90 Nokia most people in reduced circumstances I know have iPhones.
