Christ, the young really are absolutely ****ed if I'm a role model.

To be fair the MP whinging is ignoring that the most important role models are the adults around children/young adults
A father in the family seems to be the one that's most important yet declining nowadays.

LOL yeah. I think he's talking about every single male role model being picked on for a nice daubing of wokeism. Hard to find a character/role that isn't at least been touted for change if it hasn't already. As much as I don't mind in many cases the female James Bond is just utterly ridiculous. Just no need.

The whole "toxic masculinity" thing does paint men as being pretty awful... I was actually quite surprised although probably shouldn't be, to see BBC News actually has a "toxic masculinity" news category to tag such stories.
Maybe teaching young guys that being a man is shameful is what pushes them to act badly. Tell a child they're bad enough and they tend to believe it.

And if you don't tell a child that they are bad, then they become the entitled woke snowflake whatever the current decrepit right wing term is for anyone under 55 who doesn't share their opinion on things.

We need more of the male role models that we had in the last few decades - Danny LaRue, Les Dawson, Julian Clary, Paul O'Grady, Paul Shane, etc!

That's not quite what it means - the idea is to distinguish between toxic and non-toxic variations. (As an analogy, if I mention "hot drinks", that doesn't mean that all drinks are hot; it's to distinguish between hot drinks and cold drinks.)

Too late. Just the term masculinity gets the lefties spinning now.

My 12-year-old daughter is onto this, so it has got to have some truth in it. Says the boys at school are really messed-up, very badly behaved - and she's at a good grammar.

They need a regular dose of a violent sport like boxing that has clear boundaries with male coaches who take no tulip and have high expectations of them.

There are actually youth projects aimed at boys that do exactly this and it works e.g.
