Ok gotcha.
I do fear some of these many new tools give the end user a false sense of security, the way they are advertised makes me cringe.
I suspect in about four or five years HMRC will be going after incorrect filing/expenses etc.,
We need professionals though...

I don't understand at all what you mean?
My late father paid a book-keeper and accountant his entire life to do his books, yes he could have done them himself but he paid a professional to do it, why can't IT contractors (which I assume you are talking about) do the same.
From...

Just educated guess work from the wise ones on here, but five years seems to be the average (for full conclusion).
Who can tell what HMRC are thinking it's in their favour for it to drag on because thousands will have abandoned their LTDs and gone umbrella (which is the aim of this of course)....

I too paid the same rate for the years in question and never was not working so my fee stayed the same entirely, it's only in these later years I had a dormant company for a while.
I swear the waiting is the worst...

A different rate when you were working or when you were not working?
HMRC can't provide evidence for differing rates during working as that didn't happen, they can of course provide evidence of different levels of fees for premium services (packaged products) and possibly differing rates...Last edited by GregRickshaw; 19 May 2022, 15:43.

Same here but I used the CK template, David and WTT said the big appeals would come later, though not sure what the difference is TBH.
The only 'helpers' I know who are approaching this differently are Gilbert who are asking HMRC to give evidence to support their claims rather then the...

A response to an WTT/David appeal or just the standard 'we'll put this aside' response to our original appeals?...

I have been saying this since day one, once they caught us on the fee there was no way back.
Also it's all fees not just the dormant fee etc., The argument David, WTT and GT have to make is there was no % earned based on income etc.,
Yes the other two points are very subjective...

Initially it did make front page news, including the FT however as with everything people get bored very quickly. Also where are we going to get any sympathy/support from?, the rest of the working world see us as a bunch of tax dodgers, and probably are please we are getting our comeuppance.

I'm not going to be able to because I can't possibly afford it if it comes for all the years up to now, not in this lifetime anyway.
Ditched CK but damage is done. I will need an accountant for the year end and VAT (as I did with CK) so if HMRC eventually come after the one man bands, the...

There are two things in flight really now. CK and Boox are going to try to prove they were not MCSP (not sure how they can when the monthly fee is enough for HMRC to capture them).
The second thing is more personal, and yes I think it will get down to proving which services you used, most...

Imagine that, a Crown Court favouring a prosecution by the Crown. For those who thought the 'next big thing' (the MSCP cases) were going to be a walk in the park.... here is your reality right here.

I don't agree at all there is zero need for anyone to say anything nasty based on shape, size, hair in this case etc., Brushing things off, in my experience, makes the comments acceptable....

Yeah bloomin pansies (no offence to pansies) name calling and bullying is just character building after all. Just suck it up buttercups...

It seriously is time we stopped name calling anyway, being called fat, tall, small, bald, (glasses wearer) is (can be) hurtful and is bullying plain and simple. Any bullying in the workplace (or anywhere) should be dealt with as bullying.
Bullying bald people though seems acceptable and...

I expected some sort of headless chicken mode to be invoked and all 'options' would be removed from contractor Ltd services accountants, but it seems the opposite or the status quo has been observed....

Ironically that's fairly new. They weren't options in 2012...
