Everyone vulnerable who can be vaccinated has been. Most over 18s have had at least one jab and the only ones waiting two jabs are the youngest who are less likely to be seriously ill.

We can't eradicate covid so we may as well open up now. If someone is unfortunate that their jab has not worked and they are unlucky enough to be in the 1% who die, there is not much more we can do.

What are you even trying to say with this statement? Firstly, we don't know enough about long covid to be able to say exactly what it is, but we do know that some people are still extremely sick (debilitated, economically inactive!) more than a year after contracting covid. Is that not of concern? The fact that this may or may not have similarities to existing post-viral syndromes (which are broadly untreatable, and can be equally debilitating) doesn't lessen the importance of it in any way.

So why not wait until everyone who wants it has been double-jabbed (including down to 12 year olds, for whom the vaccine is now approved)? Our current restrictions are mild, so it would just be a case of continuing to support the few sectors left who are unable to operate at full capacity. Or is it a case of "got mine, don't care about the rest"?

How do you know everyone vulnerable has been vaccinated?
If the vast majority are vaccinated, how do you explain the exploding case rate when even a single dose has significant impact on transmissibility?

How long do you propose we have restrictions for? Indefinitely because there will always be people in that situation. They have always had to be careful even before Covid.
