It is early days and we'll be working on a full analysis and response, and we'll be continuing to lobby with evidence-based research and hand-in-hand with other industry bodies. However "We can't be treated as businesses and taxed as employees." is a pretty good starting point.

IPSE spent nearly £1m backing a member all the way to the House of Lords before, and we'd be prepared to do the same again (to the Supreme Court).

And here was me thinking you were just insurance salesmen, purveyors of money off vouchers and instrumental in keeping IR35.

What a strange offer. I didn't realise that Hudson was a charity?

It's basically a focus group, judging by what the cut-n-paste above says: they want you to come along for half a day so they can pick your brains about their new way of framing contracts so as to avoid the risk of SDC, and they'll pay for your time.

Do they pay at least 15% commission and offer 2 references

They compensate you for your lost working time while helping them out. If it hurts to claim that then don't claim it. Simples.

There are other approaches to this whole sorry mess of course.

Playing devils advocate but just to show my point

From the General Anti Abuse Guidance Parts A-C page 10

B11.1 It is recognised that under the UK’s detailed tax rules taxpayers frequently have a
choice as to the way in which transactions can be carried out, and that differing tax
results arise depending on the choice that is made. The GAAR does not challenge
such choices unless they are considered abusive. As a result in broad terms the
GAAR only comes into operation when the course of action taken by the taxpayer
aims to achieve a favourable tax result that Parliament did not anticipate when it
introduced the tax rules in question and, critically, where that course of action
cannot reasonably be regarded as reasonable.
Given that Parliament's intent when the autumn statement is passed is for those working in the public sector to be taxed as if their were employees doesn't choosing an "artificial" method of working that contrived to put you outside IR35 meet this criteria.

                    Of course there are.

If you think getting involved in Hudsons agenda is worthwhile, fill yer, or IPSEs, boots

I'm on the bench so, assuming the expense of a trip to London from the East Midlands would be reimbursed in full, it would be an easy way of making a few extra quid before Christmas
