If the Insurers ask you directly you have to mention taking the course Mrs V is a fast woman and has had points & a course behind her. I'm an old duffer who rarely gets past 30 mph.

I was asked at renewal whether either named driver had points or course, queried it as Mrs was told she didn't have to mention it, they pointed out they asked and if I lie the insurance is void.

Mrs V enjoyed telling me the 'facts' she learnt on the course. She still drives up the person in front's arse.

As above take the course it gives you options later and reminds as you waste the time at the course that speeding is a bad idea.

      Of course you were.

Interesting comment there from NigelJK about revenue. Did anyone do an SAC and as a result drive more slowly?

At L2B you regularly went over 30mph.

On the downhill sections. Or trying to keep up with attractive females going over 30mph.

Not me gov. Never been caught speeding, but then again I know what my speedo is actually reading and what the ACPO guidelines are for any given piece of road.

The law was changed as Councils were heavily into 'unjust enrichment' via the original scameras and a threat of high court action forced the then government to make the funds go to Central Government instead. The SAC was invented to stop the hemorrhaging off £M's. Oddly the AA make a pile of cash too as one of the biggest 'providers'.

When recommending the SAC to people I always arm them with the 'green cross code' statistics, but warn that rational argument is not allowed in the classroom, bit like somewhere else I could mention.

My dad always said 'ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law'. So I make sure I know what the law actually is.

My other half did and uses the speed limiter in the car religiously. The upshot is she has now become a greater danger on the road than she was before.

I'd take the SAC. I did one a few years ago. It really helped... until I got busted for doing > 100mph last year
