No, I paid a solicitor £1200 to get me off with a £1000 fine and 6 points

Interesting comment there from NigelJK about revenue. Did anyone do an SAC and as a result drive more slowly?
Yes - or rather I was more aware of lampposts and when you see them the speed limit is 30 unless otherwise stated

also stay in 3rd and do not rev it should put you about 30 for most average cars

As always it's the inappropriate use of speed that's the issue..

100mph in the middle of the night on a quiet road (motorway if you like), good conditions and visibility, in a well maintained car built to easily handle the speed.

        or

30mph past a school at chucking out time (assume a 30mph limit before the pendants point out a lot of schools have 20mph limits now.. not all of them).

One of these scenarios is breaking the law and will get you a possible ban or least a fine and lots of points. I'd suggest the legal one is a lot more dangerous...

Now I wonder how much of that found its way into the back pocket of the Chief Magistrate.
