lampposts and when you see them the speed limit is 30 unless otherwise stated
So long as they are less than 200m apart (I know of 2 cases where they CPS failed on this count). I'm willing to bet that they didn't mention that. If you've ever lived in a rural area you'd know why.

The 20 mph limit is residential areas is an interesting one. It's the prelude to putting average speed cameras in these areas. Only issue ATM is that there is no Home office approved device for measuring 20mph (or more correctly 24mph).

I have had a clean license for over 15 years so am wondering whether I should take the 3 points or go on a 4 hour Speed Awareness course. The financial cost in both cases is very similar and hence irrelevant (£100 Vs £95).

Do 3 points make much difference to insurance costs these days?
Can't you send the wife? Her time is worth less than yours.

Have you not showed her place in the house yet then?

I'm 32 and did the course last year. Got caught at 36 in a 30 (shortly after a 40 limit) by a camera van, or as they called it, 'slow to slow'.

Some of the information was very useful when considered (who knows the stopping distance in rain off the top of their head). Made me think about what would happen if the worst were to happen. I can say that I've definitely noticed that I drive slower now, I make sure to leave extra time now when going everywhere so that it's not a worry if I'm running late.

The course seemed like tosh at the time but there was some useful information in there.

Those lunch-time-long-drives with that lass at work have clearly worked then!

You, sir, are a danger on UK roads.
