This was inevitable; it was even being advocated by hardliners like Peter Lilley and John Redwood. If this is the sum total of her speech tomorrow, I can't help feeling it's more style than substance. Repeal of the EC 1972 Act to have effect once we've left. Check. All existing EU law grandfathered until later. Check. Night follows day. Check. Nothing (much) about the timing of A50 or about the broad terms being sought. I doubt this is going to be enough to satisfy Tories waiting to hear more, on either side.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, the prime minister said the repeal bill would mark "the first stage in the UK becoming a sovereign and independent country once again".

"It will return power and authority to the elected institutions of our country," she said.

"It means that the authority of EU law in Britain will end."

It's not difficult to understand. There are two options. You either attempt to unpick the laws before Brexit or you unpick them afterwards. The former would delay Brexit for years. Clearly, the latter was inevitable.

So we're not changing laws. We like the trade deals. And the majority of benefit claiming immigrants come from outside the EU, whilst we banish hardworking eastern europeans. The NHS will not get £350 million a week.

Is your latest tactic to take everything said and then reverse it?

Laws changed after we leave. It might take years to decide and change the ones we want to so let's do it after.

We do like trade deals. Unfortunately the EU seem to think that trade goes hand in hand with everyone migrating where they want to whereas we would like the right to decide who comes.

Hopefully none of the hard working Eastern Europeans or indeed any other Europeans will be banished, however, if the EU Commission wants to stick rigidly to its ideology and doesn't mind sacrificing a few lefties for the greater good then so be it.

£350m for NHS. Iceland anyone?
