        I think it's been well indicated in this thread that the benefits issue is a charade and nothing to do with the EU. The poor hamstrung leadership of this country are taking the piss by claiming it's a problem caused by the EU in the first place. There are issues with the EU and reforms required, but it would be nice to have a government that was being honest about what they are and trying to solve them rather than making up a bunch of bulltulip to play politics at home.

          with the pound and house prices set to plummet should be quite a lot of winners from a Brexit

            Quite. Amounts involved are pretty small and given wage differences, min wage soon to go up here, doubt it will affect net migration much. Camoron has not even tried to address that real issue, nobody would let him.

              I said it earlier, and I'll say it again. It's the same as for Scotland v UK.
              The smaller part is better off remaining as part of the bigger group, unless the smaller part gets given everything with no debts/conditions/etc as part of a separation, which would never happen. Not even Brillo's exes do that well.

                Just as we would've kicked Scotland out.

                  In or Out?

                  I see it going one of two ways;

                  1) people are scared into voting to remain (economics of fear)

                  2) a black swan event very close to the vote day changes the mood (migrant attack on London or something like that) and people vote to leave.

                  Thing with no2 is it feels likely, and out of Cameron's hands...

                    I think that a lot of people who say they want out, will, when it comes to it, vote to stay out of fear of the unknown. There will be a lot of fear peddled, loss of jobs/influence etc.

                    I reckon it will be a "stay" by a surprisingly large margin.

                      I concur. A real shame, but at least I will be able to say "I told you so".

                      The writing is on the wall for the EU anyway. Italy debt-gdp , Spain debt-gdp, migrant crisis. I don't see it surviving all that...
