The SNP are one party in Scotland, they will most likely disband on independence after the negotiations.

Of course they bloody won't. They may re-brand but why would they all make themselves unemployed?

Their Raison d'être is to achieve Scottish Independence. They will splinter into a few parties.

You are nuts. They do not need a simple majority they need unanimity (agreement by all people involved; consensus).

He likes to make stuff up off the top of his head to support his argument, you have to make a bit of an allowance for the amount of Jackanory in this thread.

It's article 49 that is about admitting a new country, not article 48. Scotland would have to apply as a new member.
              I'm alright Jack

                Noooo

If they get independance they will do everything they can to stay in power.

Salmond has no real interest in Scotland other than power and money and he is not going to give that up (as we know from history no one gives up power voluntarily)

"The members submit a proposal to the European Council and if it - after consulting with the parliament and the commission - decides by a simple majority to look at the proposed amendments, then it is passed on to a "convention".

No, he has set a general election for just after it, so I guess history has a first.
