I am rarely out of a gig in march. This is the first my contract will finish in march and i already have another in the pipeline - Hence i think march or April is always a good time to look for a contract.

That is what we like to see. A statement based on good solid research.

Market within finance is still buoyant mainly as there's such a huge amount of new legal, regulatory and mandatory projects coming in thick and fast.

I could walk from current role for another £50 per day but current gig is long-term (disguised permie) and is too good a cash cow to walk away from for 6 months in a new environment. Saying that, still getting head-hunted for permie role. no idea if I'm interested but playing the game...

            Plenty roles, much cheapness.

It was the same last year when I was looking around, it seems that £350 per day is the new £450 per day this time around.

I'm looking at a reduction of between 20 and 30% and possibility of having to work away.

Well done to you guys who are in demand!

I am starting to notice more and more jobserve ads with: "Applications welcome from candidates who require a work visa". Is the market so good that they are inviting contractors from outside the EU now? I did not think so. Any explanation for this?
My mind has gone blank. I wonder if it was always that way.

Try ringing them about it and ask the rate.

Why take 20% of a UK contractors rate when you can take 60% of a bobs one.

That's it, Im seriously thinking of quitting and retiring.

Round trip of 150 miles yesterday, had interview (went well) then at the end interviewer says righto, we'll get you back for a 2nd interview with more people. WTF?

So no, sorry, I dont do 2 (or more) stage selection processes. And for that reason, Im out.
