I now ask if they'd like to use skype or google chat, means I don't need to iron trousers. -
Generally agree, but needs must. Succumbed to a second interview for a role last week. Lasted 12 minutes, basically so someone senior could vet me. Fair enough, but would have been better if I they had done it first time around. Total cost / effort on that role to date = 2 days and £280. Outcome awaited.Originally posted by BolshieBastard View PostThat's it, Im seriously thinking of quitting and retiring.
Round trip of 150 miles yesterday, had interview (went well) then at the end interviewer says righto, we'll get you back for a 2nd interview with more people. WTF?
So no, sorry, I dont do 2 (or more) stage selection processes. And for that reason, Im out.Comment

Yeah, frustrating. Bob only wants half the money, but then he will be off back home in a couple of years. Us poor buggers are stuck with it.Originally posted by istvan View PostI am starting to notice more and more jobserve ads with: "Applications welcome from candidates who require a work visa". Is the market so good that they are inviting contractors from outside the EU now? I did not think so. Any explanation for this?

This is the issue for me. I wont spend that kind of money, time and effort. If they cant make their minds up after one hit, I move onto other things.Originally posted by GB9 View PostGenerally agree, but needs must. Succumbed to a second interview for a role last week. Even if they tell me up front, I wont entertain more than one interview.
For permie roles, maybe. I wont accept any role where they expect you to jump through hoops.Originally posted by SimonMac View PostTwo face to face interviews is a bit funny, but not un heard off
I know one mug who had 3 interviews once. The client went back and said they wanted a 4th! He told them to GTF and as he'd had 3, said they had had ample opportunity to make a decision.I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

My personal record was 10 out of 11 although that was for a perm role. To be fair they did 9 of them on one day - I was there for over four hours writing different programs on paper for them.Comment

I think it is an error on JobServe. Here is an example where the job ad specifies "must be able to work in the UK", but the header says sponsorship will be considered.Originally posted by istvan View PostI am starting to notice more and more jobserve ads with: "Applications welcome from candidates who require a work visa". Had a Morgan Stanley interview which was 4 people over 5 hours. I turned up as the rate was decent but then my darling agent called 10 mins before to tell me the role had been taken internally and HR had blah de blah etc.
One interview should be all they need. Check for matching shoes and that we can do the technical stuff.Comment

Im not sure. I checked and all ads seem to have it on now. Perhaps its in response to dave hug a hoodie's open arms welcome to everyone from the sub continent?Originally posted by Jase View PostI think it is an error on JobServe. Totally agree. If they cant agree after one interview, how the flip can anyone have confidence in them delivering \ managing a project? Do they want 2 or 3 attempts at getting that right too?Originally posted by flambo View PostHad a Morgan Stanley interview which was 4 people over 5 hours. Oh dear... I don't suppose you remember when you neg rep'd me in this thread with the advice "Well d'uh! Ask for a telephone interview if you dont want the time and trouble, d**kh**d." do you?Originally posted by BolshieBastard View PostThat's it, Im seriously thinking of quitting and retiring.

Perhaps you should've done the very same thing yourself before embarking on a 150 mile round trip?
