Web developer, the usual ASP.NET/MVC3.0/Razor/SQL Server/Jquery/Json/EF5/TDD/BDD/Agile/Scrum/Specflow/Selenium Obviously, not all companies use all of these at the same time in software development, but useful to plonk it all in the CV for the pimps. If you want, I can share my pluralsight login with you, and you can brush up. That's what I do anyways, before I go to interviews. If it's software houses, sweatshops/digital media agencies, they probably want all of those above and will pay less in my experience. No point in generalizing though. Current gig is £350 after the pimp's cut and my first in central london. Was originally advertised at £425, but then the company decided to cut the price to "market" rate. Seems like a trend
Still it's better than the tulip position in Reading which was paying £320 a day for a software house (that AGILE dude who conducted a roleplay interview). If your skillset matches mine, I can refer you the job e-mails/calls I get from pimps I know.

I am Brad. I do more than the needful and drive the market rates up by not bobbing my head.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my skill set is nothing like that these days. Not so long ago I designed a clever database application that did some nice stuff with clinical data but not much hands on since then. I've migrated an entire bank since then but nothing that is of use to anyone else these days!

Are you sure the agency is not shafting you and pocketing the difference?

It was the pimp who told me this info. So I am placing my belief in him for now, until I get close to my client and find the real figure. In any case, even if they are pocketing the money, there is not a lot I can do, apart from going straight for the client if he wants next time around in future.

Did you opt out? If so, expect the pimp to fight you very strongly on this.

He had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

That's true, and the current clause does state the usual 12 month break before I can work with the same client. The client asked me the same question on the very first day. He also wanted to avoid the pimp and work with my company, so lets see in the future. Out of curiosity, do any agencies allow you to opt in at their own risk?

Irrespective of whether you opt out or not. Agency can and will restrict on the client side, albeit for 8 weeks instead of the 12 months for opt out that I suspect they will have (based on your contract).

If clients want the benefit of agencies, they should pay for it.

Could you clarify your question a bit further?
