    Gov UK One Login

So I need to confirm my id with this Gov UK One Login thing so submit the company confirmation statement on companies house.

I tried once before and it asked me stupid questions like did I open a bank account in 1996 or 1997 or 1999 ? Which I got wrong because it was over 25 years ago!!

So this time around I elected to go to a post office with my driving licence. Got email saying, see the results of your id check, and it says there was a problem, failed!

FFS. Has anyone managed to prove their id to this steaming pile of tulipe and actually get on with the companies house confirmation statement, which I have been succesfully submitting since 2007 with very little hassle until this came along ?

What route did you take to getting it to work ? Install the government spyware app on your phone ? Can you delete it after once the id check is done ?

I installed the 'One Login' app last year (although not for anything to do with Companies House).
Once I failed to achieve what I had expected it would do, there was the option to delete account and remove data. So installing it and deleting it was an option.

What I was getting at is, if you install the app and start using that way to get in, are you then stuck with it ? Or can you use it to do the id bit, get the id confirmed, and then log in without the app ?

It's fairly clear that the 'One Login' will be needed for ongoing logins ..

        https://www.gov.uk/government/news/a...ovuk-one-login

My reading of this is that the One Login App is not needed for ongoing access to services

        https://www.sign-in.service.gov.uk/a...gning-users-in

So that once setup, the 2FA can be via a text message or an authenticator app.

It looks as if one could use the One Login App for ID verification, then delete it, since it's not needed for general ongoing access.

You might want to look at a couple of previous discussions:
Web filing (shared access) - Contractor UK Bulletin Board
GOV UK One Login - Contractor UK Bulletin Board

          In brief:
          * I was able to answer the questions online (because I keep records of my bank accounts).
          * I helped someone else to do it using the app.
          * I know someone else who used an ACSP.

Either way, you don't need the app to file your confirmation statement, you just need your personal code.

I closed my Ltd Co. few years back but I am a director of the management company that manages my block of flats.

Had an email from the property management company saying that they need a code to file the confirmation statement and that all direcors must do this.

I had a quick look and don't fancy signing up to the One Login and having the app and the bio-metric face scan....I don't trust having personal info on a govt. app.

            Any alternatives?

You have to have a One Login. Have you actually bothered reading any of the information on this? It's the law. If, as a director, you don't want to comply with company law then resign your post.

Why are you being so rude and accusatory writing the above?

Yes I have read it and don't want to have my bio-metrics and the app installed....I was a victim of identity fraud a few years ago and had the police involved and I have to be super careful now what I share.

I was a director then of my own ltd and they got some info via Companies House about me.

It was a total nightmare and now I have to be super careful what I share.

Having all my personal info on a govt app...I don't feel comfortable ...they can be hacked quite easily.

I despair of this forum now - it seems people want to pounce and are not helpful.

Nominating an agent looks like a solution.
