IT as in replacing keyboards and mice or IT as in doing high performance, high security, high value cryptocurrency algorithms

They're both IT but completely different markets.

As Paralytic indicates, just talking about 'the market' as a whole isn't helpful. It's also driven by our clients so their market is also a factor.

There is a long thread where we wax lyrical about it and people put their anecdotes in but it's down to your skills and what clients really want.

finding good people is really, really difficult at the moment.
If you can't find work the problem is not demand.

          It's buoyant in some areas.
Interestingly, the crypto world, which saw growth over recent years, is showing signs of slowing down as energy costs make the model less enticing.

Industries are showing keen interest in consolidation and global cost reduction as a method of margin security, rather than focusing on "profit" generation. BDA is where it's at.

+1. The clients I work with are having a terrible time finding good people.

But I also agree with others that there's no "IT market", it's a very loose aggregation of many markets at a scale where generalisations are possible, a bit like the "contracting market".

It's about as superficial as your first post around "IT Contracting", which I note you have now changed from saying "IT" to "software development"

Being an IT Contractor is not just about working in some tech companies that are struggling.

I assume you're not technical at all. Technical people know what IT means Also thanks for your useless contribution to my original question.
