It's good because having someone other than you, the HMRC and your accountant having a say in your tax affairs was fundamentally wrong. However my understanding is we have rolled back to before the changes in 2017, so potentially the government can point to this in public while the HMRC continue, or increase, investigating incorrect determinations behind the scenes.

The problem with that argument is that Chapter 8 IR35 investigations are incredibly time consuming. The whole point of the 2017 and 2021 changes were to make things far easier HMRC to investigate and deal with.Originally posted by SussexSeagull View PostIt's good because having someone other than you, the HMRC and your accountant having a say in your tax affairs was fundamentally wrong. No the article said it was to be reviewed. Everyone was expecting a review that HMRC would then put the kybosh on it so it never went anywhere.Originally posted by Paralytic View Post

Literally no-one was expecting the IR35 changes to be reversed - they expected them to be (at best) revised and with the insaner bits removed...merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

So it wasn't disputed out of turn. It was disputed as a) there was no citation, and b) it's plainly bonkers.
It seems #thicklizzy is crazier than we thought (although exactly as crazy as she claimed to be to win the vote).See You Next TuesdayComment

I read it in an accounting journal that she would "review the IT 35 situation"...seems like she has which is great news...

I hope Cojak has a bit of time on her hands.
If cojak wants content for those I'm happy to write it..
The inside to outside 1 is more difficult because it's the complete absence of an SDS that would be the determining factor there...merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

lol indeed.Originally posted by Cookielove View PostWho would have thought hey!!! Good news we got Liz as PM and not Rishi lol!!
I have just had nearly 10% of real value wiped from everything I own (house, cash, pension, assets, the lot) in less than a week....
I'd rather have kept IR35 as it was, and paid more income tax.
The only silver lining was I made £800 from Bitcoins (or should I say "I bought a dip in the £££. Let's hope it stops dipping").See You Next TuesdayComment
